Just spent all weekend making a movie as part of the V 48 Hour Film competition in New Zealand. Production stills, behind the scenes videos (etc) when we can get them

I need to make a nice looking vintage postcard for a friend, so I did this as a test.
practising geometric logotype design
you should make the a in party more obvious, i thought it read as bonerporty until i looked at it a couple times
I need to make a nice looking vintage postcard for a friend, so I did this as a test.
why is this the test it should be the final postcard
I need to make a nice looking vintage postcard for a friend, so I did this as a test.
Text doesn't contrast enough with the background and/or is too busy to be readable. Try making it a different colour and if it's still difficult try changing the saturation of the images inside the text. Maybe try colourising them
doe's anyone have a good exercise for practising symmetry, at the moment im just doing anatomy but i find it difficult sometimes to mirror eyes and detailed features.

Will be doing much more work on the final image, so thanks for the input.
fdshgh
color theory can be so god damn interesting. nice utilization of using the illusion of luminosity also as a way to create depth and establish a theme in your composition. might not be intentional but it looks it
Messin wit speedies Trying to redesign dragons in a way that's less stale than the common 'mountains, cliffs, magic, wise, old, destructive' way that they're depicted at the moment. rrerr [editline]22nd May 2012[/editline] got the tiniest bit of a buzzed high and made this, ive been needing to differentiate my personal sketchbook from my class one.

It's a basic design based on old postcards, I looked at a few tutorials for font ideas mainly.
doe's anyone have a good exercise for practising symmetry, at the moment im just doing anatomy but i find it difficult sometimes to mirror eyes and detailed features.
Structure first, sketch out the shapes that make up your subject and build on them. Don't do one feature to death, try to bring the whole piece out more or less at the same time. Don't try to mirror eyes, just draw them each from reference as they appear. They're very unlikely to be identical. I'm so sick of electronic art. If you're going to do it, and it's going to be quick, do it well.
Out of nowhere I got an idea and started drawing: Tumblr. Around 30~ minutes, black and white. Suddenly got the idea to draw a cave, had about 3 strokes and felt confident enough to move on. This came out way better than I expected. Also got to admit this is the first time ive actually tried black and white and drawing a scene/landscape. I found this very fun to do.

If you're going to do it, and it's going to be quick, do it well.
And if it is a gradient applied to a greyscale image... so what? If you're going to be anal/a purist about processes at least do it right; complain about the entire digital revolution, not just a single process. Digital art does make it easier to create things. Does it take out the requirement to know what you're doing with colour, composition and form? Nope. And at the end of the day most digital processes emulate some sort of traditional process. -Using the marquee tool to shift something to a different layer and move it around? Collage. -Using adjustment layers, low-opacity strokes or simple layer blending modes (multiply, etc) to alter the colour of layers below? Paint washes/glazes. -Custom, textured brushes? Recreate some of the roughness and spontaneity of using a physical brush.

I believe there is a huge difference between the way the gradient map is used in the above example of doing it wrong and in his art piece. I think you'er also missing the point where it isn't transistioning like a gradient map either, whole mountain parts in the same perspective field contains the same colour, it's only one the ones closer/further away that it changes colour. So there is manual work there as well.
if this were the 1980's that picture of easter island DGG on a giant canvas would sell for thousands
bought some post-it notes yesterday and picked up a pen to draw for the first time in about 3 months; just a quick doodle of some vikingy dwarfy type guy
