legs look like he's running but torso looks like he's just standing there. maybe hunch over the body a bit more? hard to say without the head
It's a direct trace of a the pyro's silhouette actually :suicide:
The reason why is that I want to practice on my brush work and lighting.
I might steer it into a different direction seeing as what I posted was done in about 30 minutes I think?
As a second though any of you guys have good tips/examples or a tutorial that explains lighting?
tracing, not even once.
i traced one time now i cant stop im a trace addict i too used to be a contributing member of society before i did trace
tracing, not even once.
Yeah tracing is bad and a big no no.
However I've been told and seen other artists doing it as a way of practice and memorising shapes.
Like tracing the muscles of a chest on a photo, then trying to do the same, and then on from different angles and sizes.
If it's a way to get better and learn something I'll do it, I'm not tracing on purpose as a way of stealing or benefiting from the trace.
You dont learn anything with tracing if you rely on it or keep doing it.
/opinions
I don't think you learn anything from tracing full stop
The lines are there, you can see them; moving your pencil or cursor over the top of them doesn't help you "understand" them better than just looking at them. Doing it for educational purposes is bullshit
i think if your purpose is to learn to draw from imagination then there are far better ways to spend your practising time than tracing
it's kind of a thing you just don't post or mention.

What I mentioned.
tracing is bad no matter what
Oh well, opinions tend to be different.
More reason for me to move on to the next drawing, never think of tracing again and think about becoming better and doing things myself instead.

Painted this with a friend of mine. Original by Alex Grey here. I'm pretty happy with the final result, although I wish the eyes would show more 'motion'. C&C would be appreciated.

That's awesome!

The gradient in the lines is really nice
calling this a day. couldn't be bothered with her hands too much

constructive criticism that i can bring forth to my future work is very much appreciated
face looks too masculine, and the neck looks off
Tracing can sometimes be helpful when doing studies, they can help the muscle memory of your hand become more familiar with the shape, form and anatomy of whatever it is you are drawing.. Usually only when done with pencil and paper, where you can see your own hand creating the drawing on top of the paper. There are other ways to get better at drawing of course, those are usually harder but they are also better.
You've only got two eyes.
idk that looks pretty 3d

That looks pretty camera rotation and moving eye.
It does not look like a still image with a 3D effect.

Google 'Stereoscopic image'
The point is that if you were to put the two frames of the animation side by side and then look at them with a viewer or with the cross-eyed technique, the two images would merge and the image would actually appear 3D.
You don't have four eyes side by side on your face
[editline]1st June 2012[/editline]
I mean yeah, if you weren't doing stereoscopy then you could do 4 frames
but if you're doing 4 frames you might as well go the whole way and do 12 frames so that it meets general animation fps standards
Well that's the thing, the rhyming really does change the feeling of what you try to get across. Like, I don't know which parts are the essence and what you just put in in order to rhyme. At the moment it certainly feels trite because of that, I'm imagining you sitting sucking a pencil and reading from a rhyming dictionary when I read it. Re-use of words in order to rhyme is poor form too. If you were to rewrite it without that scheme and just say what you want to say line by line, I might think it was great, but there's no telling at the moment.
Ah, I completely see what you're saying, I guess I never thought of it that way.
This will help a lot, thanks
yeah but ones like this

definitely have that 3d effect, and that's more than 2 frames
the idea is just to show the depth of the image by having the multiple different frames/viewpoints, it's not stereoscopy, that's something different altogether (kind of)

horrible, horrible low res

It is essentially just a short repeating video clip at a low fps.
i hope this is the right place for this
ive liked the vector art style, but i like minimalism too, so that's what i shot for with this.
w/o borders

w/ borders

What can i work on, keeping the same style? This is about the max level of layered detail i want
its better w/o borders
its better w/o borders
i thought the same, just kinda went back and threw them on to see. i like the collars on the borders, but the rest isnt as good IMO
Yeah I agree that it's better without the outlines.
I would also experiment with doing some different things with the text.

i just threw the text on there so people would get the source tbh (didnt even change the font from whatever it was), but i can def work on that
A friend of mine is learning how to do art, and he wants some legitimate criticism.

He needs comments and suggestions. Now, this is the first thing like this that he has done, so please be nice: http://ponyinfinite.deviantart.com/#/d51oc7r
