The Year is 2097 thirty years after the great war. That war really fucked everthing up. Many millions died trying to defend themselves against the reavers. they just came out of no where like out of a movie, peaceful at first we were stuned reall al ........ thats all anybody got to say before washingtom dc got nucked right off the map. our troops were nothing compared to their strenth and numbers. the seven goverments left or whats was remaining had a plan. they dicided to make hudge underground towns to get away, to surive. these towns where called districts, i live in district 23. my distrct lost all communication with the rest, presumed dead. at first we had many suplies and resources at our hand but years went on. we have barley enough food and water, rolling blackouts all the time. the peace keepers say helps comming but thats been said for years and no aid in site. im dont i, we as a people need to escape. this once edan is falling into coaos, the peace keepers say safety just wait. (ring of the door bell) open up we know ur in there mr. crueler. who is it? said mr crueler peacekeepers open up KNOW. That's Typical every time something gets nucked it just falls into coaos.
Could somebody good at anatomy hit me up though Steam or PM to help me with my facial anatomy [tomorrow]?
I just started drawing someone and she looks godawful at this point. Too bad for me to post, really, I'd be much too embarrassed.
Normally I'd spend a couple hours making micro-movements and adjustments to each facial feature until it looked right, but that's a bad way to do it. Therefore, perhaps with some instruction, I could reduce the two hours to a more reasonable five minutes -- hopefully.
But that'll be when I wake up in ca. 8 hours. So if someone helps me I'd be forever grateful.
There might be a couple of super generous people around but generally I think many of us too busy to initiate PM or Steam conversations with you. If you want help with anatomy it's best if you don't ask others to make the first effort. I'm not having a go; it's just a courtesy thing you should bear in mind.
Just post it
For Daily Sketch Group over at conceptart.org, the topic was Sci-Fantasy • SHINY HULKING CYBORG'S HEAD IS THAT OF SOME CUTE LIL' ANIMAL. I call them Pavlov's Dogs, created in a secret Sovietic research program during the 50's that was born from the experiments of isolating dog heads from their bodies.

Wow, that's hilariously cool. I really like that "Red alert"-ish kind of humor.

Yeah alright, I'm getting slaughtered for this but

Being based off the comic in the top right. Ridicule away.
Much, much, much better than I expected.
I'm no expert on faces but I can't actually see anything fundamentally wrong with it. Tones look a bit dull on the neck and shading could use a little more thought but damn that's pretty sweet
Hmmm true,
I did have an identical structure in the distance to help establish the larger form, but in the revision it got lost. I'll look at bringing it back! I'm also thinking that an easily readable dragon form in the middleground would help with the reading of distance. I'm going to reduce the contrast a little as well and maybe add a bit of glow to the foreground to give the luminated parts some presence. Sky is too textured at the moment, so I'll tone that down a bit or texturise the rest of the image.
Thanks heaps for the critique.
Anybody else got some critical thoughts? I want to get this baby finished today if I can

It looks like the buildings are following different perspectives with the balkonies, also the background buildings show no perspective at all.
Something I was working on this morning.

It's nice, but I think you'd benefit by initially just doing a silhouette study. Draw up some silhouettes, figure out what looks best, then paint the character based on that.

Thanks for the CC, but if you're talking about how I made the legs, I did that intentionally, the figure is supposed to be a robotic humanoid. If you're talking about something else, feel free to elaborate :)
I mean the contents is good, but the silhouette is pretty dull. I know it's a robot and all, but the best drawings have a great silhouette regardless.
So you can just sketch up a bunch of figures -- it's easy and quick -- and figure out what looks best, and what gives you most inspiration.
Like the example below

It's nothing major, just a small thing I find helpful when coming up with character designs.
[editline]3rd June 2012[/editline]
Really helps make the character more memorable.
Alright cool, I'll keep that in mind.

I see you got inspired by makani/Heather Campbell's works (she is also one of my main inspiring artists), but it's not really a good idea to start referencing from stylistic works first. Your picture isn't bad (the coloring is okay, though a bit muddy) but it looks like you have clearly some problems with some face features, such as the thing between the nose and the mouth being too prominent, or the eyes positions.
I have some screencaps from books (and this this thread too) that will certainly help you (and anyone else on this thread) for this kind of stuff.

I tried to redline a bit (hope you don't mind), though it ended up differently :-/ . I also believe I have my own amount of mistakes on this part.

Wasn't actually inspired by anyone, didn't even know who that was to be honest. V:v:V
But thanks for the feedback. On your notes I also realized I should really make mine more feminine, because she's actually female. Updated with some slight improvements on my other post.

yeah his face shape is definitely more accurate than your red line no offense

You completely squished her face. Now the head shape is a vertical rectangle rather than his wide oval, whereas it should be like an egg.
Your redline does not look realistic at all either, it's completely stylistic. You cartoonified the eye size, the lips became gigiantic and ignores the headshape, the nose skews strongly to the left and the glasses also ignores the headshape (all 3 attempts do).
Heh, I just moved the right eye 5px closer to the nose and suddenly she looks a lot less unsettling.

oops my bad then

Tucked in the right chin so she doesn't look like a wide fatass. Made the nose slightly bigger so it looks more realistic for the size of her head, also closes the gap between mouth and nose slightly more making it look more right. Slightly skewed her right side of the mouth a bit upwards following the headshape more accurately. Made the right glasses smaller so they both are the same size and doesn't ignore the perspective (should have adjusted the left glasses as well I see now), moved her left eye closer to the nose so the start of the eye is at the end of the mouth (look it up or draw a line from your eye and down to feel it yourself), dragged a good portion of her left headshape in making her headshape more accurate, being less wide. Straightened up her ear, but it still looks bollocks as I have no intention of drawing the whole ear for this purpose, I also straightened it too much. Changed the jaw a bit so it doesn't stretch out endlessly but actually constrains itself to her head. Saturated her left side without making it as saturated as her right side.

basically i would skew her face to the right slightly from the bottom of it

I like it a lot. Only complaints I have is that the blur is a bit in there just for the sake of it, I would have tuned it down slightly, and the nipple is completely misaligned.
That's all I really have to criticize. Got a good atmospheric light to it, I love the composition and it's just well drawn.
Oh wait, having looked at the nipple even more it seems that the breast muscles are a bit too pronounced. As in, they seem to be tucked too far up on his body and seem to be pressed higher up making it not seem like he's lying on the floor, but rather pressing his chest upwards whilst leaving his head on the ground.

I love this
Ed's collarbone area looks a bit odd/lazy though, and that strip of light and shadows in the middle of his chest make no sense
http://www.drfouedhamza.com/photos/male-pectoral-implants.jpg
You call that breasts?

But yeah, it's correct to leave light in there. Otherwise how would you indicate there was a gap between the breasts? A dark shadow wouldn't fit in with the light of the breasts there.
However, why does both breast have shadow when they are coming towards the gap? That is the reason they look like they are closer to the camera, because they indicate height when they're both shadowed when they get close to the gap meaning they are higher up from his body.
YoU cALL thAT breast???
