But yeah, it's correct to leave light in there. Otherwise how would you indicate there was a gap between the breasts? A dark shadow wouldn't fit in with the light of the breasts there. However, why does both breast have shadow when they are coming towards the gap? That is the reason they look like they are closer to the camera, because they indicate height when they're both shadowed when they get close to the gap meaning they are higher up from his body.
I guess I made a mistake [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] but also that theres more light around his face than his body
I fucked up the nose indeed when adjusting it, but you should deffo make it slightly bigger.
How's this? I followed all your advice, except for the glasses. They're just temporary sketch objects for now. I'm going to paint them last.
Pfft, you didn't just follow my advice. You overlayed my image. I am flattered, but at the same time that just means you're following the "instructions" to the core rather than doing them your own way. So I dunno what I think about it.
Don't see why I shouldn't, I thought it was way better then what I cooked up.
I am flattered, but at the same time that just means you're following the "instructions" to the core rather than doing them your own way. So I dunno what I think about it.
I did most of it without an overlay actually, but I did the entire left side with. Not so much the right side and the nose. But even still I do learn from doing so, and improve each time. It becomes my own way, eventually. EDIT: People have different ways of learning. In school a lot of people preferred repetition, I didn't. And the same with painting. I barely practice, this is I think my -- 8th, or so, painting since I got the tablet. Between then I've watched no tutorials or anything like that. I've simply observed reality as much as possible, it's the way I learn most efficiently. Study and apply rather then practice and repeat. So perhaps a person who learns best by repetition wouldn't have learned anything, but I can assure you I have. So, thanks a ton for the help.
Don't see why I shouldn't, I thought it was way better then what I cooked up.
Yeah but then did you really do it? Is it really just your work now? You didn't follow my advice, you took my advice, if you know what I mean in this context. Rather than following the advice and doing it by hand you just overlayed it and followed the lines. Like a "line the dots" page in a childrens drawing book. Yeah you drew it, but did you make it? Did you learn something from it?
Well I think we should stop ninjaing each other with edits.
it doesnt look overlayed to me...
it doesnt look overlayed to me...
In the sense that I used it as a guide for where my lines should go, at least on the left side. I didn't copy or paste or anything, but it's pretty close to being the same thing.
it doesnt look overlayed to me...
The jawline. Also with overlayed I mean that he traced it, as in setting down the opacity and draw over it.
I did most of it without an overlay actually, but I did the entire left side with. Not so much the right side and the nose. ok man cool ur jets ur gettin a tad full of urself right now
ok man cool ur jets ur gettin a tad full of urself right now
How so? Giving advice makes me full of myself?
nah man just be easier on him and dont be so quick to assume hes 'stealing' your edit and putting ur own edit on a pedestal, it's still based on his work. basically be a bit more humble about it lol [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] remember that everyones advice here, mine, yours, anyones, should be taken with a grain of salt. none of us are professionals and we don't have to force people to take our advice. sometimes any of us can be wrong. i think adt's edit last page was wrong for example
Rusty, I believe his concern was that I wouldn't learn anything if I just virtually 'traced'. It's all cool.

Because our advice should be taken with a grain of salt is the reason I pointed it out in the first place, saying he should take it in in his own way rather than using it as a guide. You've already witnessed my total lack of aesthetical sense (at least compared to the general preference of this forum. :>), my horrible anatomical knowledge and terrible drawing skills several times.
Hm, the eyes are still quite a bit funky. Is it misalignment? Too big? Wrong scale? Lack of detail? Too dark shading? Can't quite figure out out.
Hm, the eyes are still quite a bit funky. Is it misalignment? Too big? Wrong scale? Lack of detail? Too dark shading? Can't quite figure out out.
Too much dark areas all around it, and the eyebrows are Preston-high. Look up some photos of people (preferably with a similar pose) and see what it should look like.
I think you should just move on to another painting
fma fanart, urp!
Your metal is good but what happened with the helmet's teeth? They look really stick-on. You should apply those same metal wears and highlights to that part also.
I think you should just move on to another painting
I dont think thats an option, hes doing it for a friend right?
No I was just doing it because I felt like it. And I scrapped it. RIP.
I didnt know. [editline]3rd June 2012[/editline] oh ok
No I was just doing it because I felt like it. And I scrapped it. RIP.
Aw but I liked it :c
I was told to post this here since it "might give a few laughs". I drew it when I was bored, an hour ago. [sp]01:59 - Quinnjdq: might want to include a tag saying it's satirical or maybe a spoilers[/sp] (If it causes anything that could threaten the thread, I'll take it down.)
Yeah I can see him plotting to overthrow the thread as we speak
http://www.drfouedhamza.com/photos/male-pectoral-implants.jpg
Hah, how sad Anyway, your Ed has no visible sternum or whatever, the strip of light just goes straight up to his neck plus it has a really hard edge so it still looks strange to me

Here's a crazy ol' clown that I might use for a logo or something Could probably use some critique
Trying to fix composition #1 What do you think?
Since i'll be taking AP Studio Art Next Term, i decided to start warming up. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/BQ1gn.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/nJnMk.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/TWgo1.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/GcFKb.jpg[/thumb] Anyone got any feedback?
Some calligraphy of mine, excuse it if you think it is a tad sloppy, I just like to get my ideas down as fast as they come to me, and I do it for my own fun and the only person I try to impress is myself.
