Actualy I think that if you took the objects away, it would stand a fair chance to get picked
Thanks, once the competition is over I might fix it up and attempt to show off another version - Maybe even give it some hair that looks more alike Gene Simmons'? If I ever get something printed on that site it'll be a welcome amount to help fund my CG Art bachelor.

oh what the hell, might as well toss another one up here. Its a technique practice piece I was fucking around with. original character design was by Mugitani Koichi; whose Science Fiction designs push all my buttons and then some. ~1 hour in, I've only painted one black guy before so all the values and much of the anatomy is pretty new to me. Making it up as I go along, but so far for being as WIP as it is I'm actually decently pleased. Ignore everything other then the face. Aw, it's not that bad, is it RapistSanta? Okay.
Not done anything in ages (Uni work getting in the way) - So have this...thing.

that's cool, maloof. the cityscape especially has a really nice sense of depth. maybe incorporate more of that into the birds?
My inner Picasso puked on my 3DS, and that happened: Hell, I can even show you the creepy process of puking: http://colorslive.com/details/207049-The_horror_by_edkisin.php

It's not really a serious project, just messing around on my day off But I'll remember the critique for next time
WARNING: UNTALENTED PERSON POSTING. HIDE YOUR CHILDREN! Okay, here's my godawful Overgrowth (an indie game) fanart. I know there's a couple out of place white spots I forgot to get in photoshop. How can I improve this before I start the shading? I'm also aware of the colors coming out of the lines. I'm tired so my grammar is way off.
I think you need to scrap that and reconsider your work process
I think you need to scrap that and reconsider your work process
er... Why exactly? Maybe I'm too tired to understand.
Well I don't want to write an essay atm so I'll just say learn some anatomy, do studies, work on paper not just in photoshop. Also work monotone first, colour later. Whatever it is you're doing now to produce the above, you're getting ahead of yourself. Just draw, stay loose, don't worry about the result. Put 25 or 50 drawings under your belt, and take stock of how much you've improved.
er... Why exactly? Maybe I'm too tired to understand.
I'm going to take a guess and say that when you drew it, you drew the line art right away, line by line trying to make the detail as you went, then just filled it in. You should look into making the basic shapes with an undersketch first, then tracing over it. that way, you can be really sloppy and just kind of play with the shape of it as a big rough sketch, not worrying about messing up, then when you trace over it (called "inking"), you can add fine details, tweak a little bit of how you wanted to draw it, and so on, and not worry about the bigger shape anymore. 1: sloppy pencil sketch or whatever. 2: make a new layer to draw on, and turn your sketch layer's opacity down or something so it isn't solid black. on your new layer, trace over your sketch and figure out your lines, make adjustments and start fleshing out your final shape. 3: get rid of your sketch layer, look at how your lines look and adjust them some more 4: color however you like. I don't expect you to be drawing like me or others instantly; Anatomy isn't a matter of style you can just create, and style isn't just something you can design instantly and suddenly make your things stand out in a crowd. You need to learn, you need to research, and you need to continue drawing to learn things on your own. using this process will help you slow down and think out your drawing a bit better, hopefully helping to improve yourself over time
I'd suggest studying Andrew Loomis's stuff. He shows a good way to break the human body down into forms and shapes.
a speedy thingy for the creepy thread because I'm bored [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10572953/arte/speedytrees.jpg[/t]
It doesn't feel too creepy, more long branches and bendy trees would certainly help.

Do more stuff like this please. I don't know why you make most of your other stuff look muddy and blurry most of the time. E: Oh it's a 3D project and not a drawing? I'm a bit disappointed now lol
