How does this wood texture look?
Where's it going to be used? What sort of game/art-style, etc
the planks should be straighter imo
Where's it going to be used? What sort of game/art-style, etc
It's part of a building, it has window models and such on top of it so I didn't want to make it too contrasty because it would look too busy. The art style is a low-poly/handpainted style, here's what it looks like so far in game. Most of the texture is still a work in progress:
I think maybe scale the texture mapping down a little and definitely bump map it. Otherwise I like it
The problem is that bump mapping doesn't work in conjunction with lightmaps in Unity, so it wouldn't make a difference. Anyway, thanks.
Just don't fall for the 'ol "oh I'll make everything comic-style" in 3D and then overdo it like hell with that as an excuse, like many amateur 3D artists often do, which makes it go from home-made to obnoxious. Fable is a good median in my opinion for exactly that. They've got the comic style down without making it look obnoxious.
I'll keep that in mind. Does this look too comicy? That's from the game I'm working on
It seems pretty alright, if you ask me. Some of the stairs are perhaps a bit too slanted? I like the door handle personally. The game looks like fun, good luck with it.

They were walking boxes, I remember.
yeah, it's looking good. You're making this in unity right?
honestly, it's because I don't feel comfortable with people watching at that stage, it takes a lot of thinking, and I screw up heaps of times, I just don't want to feel pressured.
Couldn't you record that part of the stream before you invite people to watch, then upload it at 150% speed or something? I am also interested
Couldn't you record that part of the stream before you invite people to watch, then upload it at 150% speed or something? You're still under pressure whilst recording, so it's gonna effect performance and decision making

You've posted countless paintings of the same things, armoured/cloaked figures and dark weird landscapes with gross colours. Try something you've never done before!
I really love the way you do the lines.
thanks a bunch! [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1157653/paint/l13.png[/t] might have bent the tower a bit too much

can't work out if that's an attempt at a specular highlight or bird poo did you use a reference? try to get a lot more contrast into your values. try looking at your painting in black and white to get an idea of where you need more strength in lights and darks

hm in general yes. depends what style i'm going for and what material i'm painting. you should be able to do pretty much everything in a general sort of style with a round brush
the greyscale really does help, does it seem too light or dark? i use a tv as a monitor and the brightness is a bit weird when not in games.
