I'm doing some basic one-point perspective practice, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to calculate cast shadows. I've looked at many online tutorials, but they're all in two-point perspective, so when I try to adapt them they just fall apart.
Any help?
The perspective seems completely off for some reason. The horizon maybe should be a bit lower?
i dont see it :c

nope.
it's all done from imagination. the red convertible is, as Mesiter noticed, a reference/tribute/homage to fear and loathing though so.

Loomis' Successful Drawing got a chapter on light and shadow and how to calculate them and so forth. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for but you could give it a shot.

You use your vanishing point plus define a point for your light source. Let's say you draw a cube in perspective - now draw construction lines from the light source through all the visible corners of the cube. They obviously represent the cut-off point for the light. Where those lines hit the lines drawn through the same corners from the vanishing point is where your shadow ends. Hope that was clear enough.

Friend recently sold me his old tablet, trying to get used to using the pen and stuff. I've worked my way into a "yearbook pose" sort of format for all of my sketches of faces, which I'm trying to leave behind.

Aaaand I drew this on a friend's review packet before the premiere of the last Harry Potter movie. I wonder what her teacher thought of it.
Links because they're far too large and I'm about to go get a hurrcut;

Guys I could really use some criticism on this one colored here. To be honest it's all very confusing, you know, with all the options photoshop gives you. Anyone has any hints or tips for a starting tablet user?

Not really sure of a solution, but the hair does seem a bit flat compared to the rest of the color in the picture.

I think the Japanese version of rusty would be Ritsu, or ryu-stu.

I would say use more colours, it seems like you are using just one colour but varying the opacity/flow

Technical test. Using textures, particles and composite nodes to create an ash/ember effect in Blender. Still figuring out how the Texture system works.
Currently rendering at 800 frame shot with the rest of the lower-quality background particles. I'm planning to composite the effect into a filmed scene once I get motion-tracking figured out.
[editline]13th February 2012[/editline]
It'd be neat to have the ember start to break apart. I can probably achieve that by altering the alpha map and adding some black/soot-like particles

I don't know if this will help, but what I do is constantly draw and at the same time thinking my content is garbage.

Practice, motherfucker
And feedback. Get criticism. Learn to tell which bits of the criticism you need/is useful and which bits you can discard.
Don't listen to the people who tell you not to argue with criticism.
You will have people give you bad advice. Figure out who you can trust to give you good advice and who is talking out of their arse.
