in photoshop i used to get like a ring around the colour picker to compare the colour I had to the colour I was picking, but its not there anymore. How do I turn it back on?
Maybe your OpenGL settings have turned themselves off. Go into Options/Preferences > 'general' (I think) and look for the OpenGL stuff It also allows an HUD Colour Picker when you hold alt+shift+right click, which is very useful.
yeah i had to turn of graphics card support that was it
just getting back into drawing from like a 2 year hiatus... and for shits and gigs..
more scribbles
I just got randomly inspired to do a portrait of Ray Harryhausen, one of my inspirations from childhood. I sunk about an hour into the pencil sketch tonight. on the right I was fucking around with my Copic markers. Should I attempt to do an ink drawing + marker wash or should I just polish the graphite sketch? [thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2319552/haus-en-progress.png[/thumb] Note that the inks and marker stuff is not how it's going to look exactly, I was just experimenting with different layering techniques and pens. However, the overall look is definitely there. I'd be shooting for something like this.
What's with this thread that everyone hates signatures so much? Did a badly-scribbled sign kill your cat or something?
You have a great piece of artwork, and there's a badly scribbled name on it. On the "front". IN the composition. Do you really need an explanation of what's wrong with that
Apparently it's pretentious? "Who do you think you are, Picasso?" I say screw it. If you feel like putting a signature on your work, go for it. I tend to throw a little one in there somewhere
That issue is more about complete amateurs putting huge sigs on their work in an "ORIGINAL COPYRIGHT DONT STEAL" kind of way. So it's "What do you think this is, DA?" In Headcrab's case, his work is fantastic, and no doubt deserves a mark of ownership. But his sigs have been awful and damaged his compositions before, and that latest one is awful as well. I don't have an issue with a small, discreet signature in the very corner of the canvas, if you have a nice cursive hand or an otherwise unique and pleasant sig. Been thinking of getting a new avatar. I know it's only an image and most people aren't really concerned about this sort of thing, but it's been more or less a visual symbol of 'me' on these forums for six years now. I'm not sure what I should change it to, IF I should even change it in the first place. I thought I'd ask what you guys think cos yous mah peeps
What about the testicle character from your testicle webcomic [editline]20th June 2012[/editline] On transparency Serious suggestion btw it would be good
What about the testicle character from your testicle webcomic
Hey there ain't no testes in my webcomic yet [editline]20th June 2012[/editline]
What about the testicle character from your testicle webcomic [editline]20th June 2012[/editline] On transparency Serious suggestion btw it would be good
I've been thinkin'; I like those squareish, almost orientally-influenced signatures that a couple of digital artists use. I don't like how they're often bright red and noticeably detract from the composition, but the culturally alien nature of them is pretty sweet Maybe I'll do a square avatar that'll also be a greyscale, low-opacity signature on my paintings
And my anatomy training continues. Why are arms so flippin' hard to draw?
i hear Corel painter is better for sketching and Photoshop better for painting, ive never used corel though.
I got this program called Corel draw essentials with my tablet. But I don't enjoy it that much, need something better for Linux.
why is there no ctrl+z for paintings pls help oh man the shitty photo quality makes poor darwin look like a dried up skeleton
Oh man I should've posted my version of that painting. It's not finished though. Can't believe you already got your second painting done, I only have the sketches laid out.
Doing a painting for my grandma's birthday later this week of some June flowers (A rose and a foxglove), looking for some thoughts. Pencil sketch so far on the left (never really got round to figuring out how to properly make a pencil sketch more visible before, I usually tend to keep traditional and digital stuff pretty separate and only upload traditional media stuff when it's all finished and colourful so I just abused the levels/contrast and this was the best I could get it to, any advice on that?) Not finished doing the foxglove's detail properly yet clearly but the rose & vase are pretty much sorted. I think I might need to work on the angle of the table edge at the bottom still too. That's pretty much all I was going to put in, not sure if I should add anything else to it. Don't really want to move anything majorly at this point but I'd consider adding/removing extra leaves/flowers/background detail to it. Also got the general colour scheme I'm intending to work with on the right (obviously subject to tweaking as I go along) surrounded by beige because her favourite colour is actually beige for real and her living room and a lot of the rest of her house is pretty much entirely beige or pale cream/white so I'm trying to make it fit in with that. Gonna finish off the drawing later tonight when I have some free time, any thoughts/advice etc. before I start painting?
Oh man I should've posted my version of that painting. It's not finished though. Can't believe you already got your second painting done, I only have the sketches laid out.
it's actually my third and i've missed about 3 out of 6 classes :L
it's actually my third and i've missed about 3 out of 6 classes :L
I have another 5 hours in The Factory tomorrow, but I can't go.
Made some sock suspenders yesterday: Doesn't really fit in with my sketchbook stuff so it's not in there.
that's something i've never heard of [editline]20th June 2012[/editline] but they look kinda cool. vintagey
to be fair i've only known them as an old fashioned male accessory
to be fair i've only known them as an old fashioned male accessory
Yeah, I really like them and they're like £20 to buy so I thought I'd make some instead
i went to see how it looked like and turns out the forehead is way bigger, oh well. should've used a ref.
A forearm from the bargue drawing course did this one really quick, took maybe an hour as you can see from the rendering quality. Mainly just some drawing exercise, no real purpose, although I have been learning anatomy a lot lately and somehow copying these plate drawings, even though they are just direct copies, seems to help me remember and understand certain forms of the body.
That is orgasmic!
How would I go about inverting pressure input in photoshop? I accidently drew this whilst facepunch was broken: [t]http://localhostr.com/file/yUFIxt7iPRJE/whimsee.png[/t]
This is probably just me, but whenever I try to ink in a sketch I've done, I always dislike the end result. For some reason, I just totally prefer the scruffy look of a sketch.
that's most likely because all your energy was put into the lines of the sketch, while the lined version is more or less just a copy of that, you lose the original flow. [editline]21st June 2012[/editline] and it's probably not just you, happens to everyone.

This might retain the loose sketchiness of the original drawing whilst bringing it through to a more refined medium and aesthetic
Both of those comments make sense, ta. Content-less page king, deal w/ it.
