I believe you are using sai, is that right?
What would be the best way about contacting any of you for doing comissions?

I'll play around with your pen tool in a bit, got any examples you used it for? I'll refine stuff when I like, this was just for sake of scribbling it out

I don't have any examples right now, no. I'm not really that much a fan of SAI either line art in general.

made something derp really quick
I believe the pen tool I used is good for sketching and laying out some indications of shadows, but maybe its not that great for normal lineart, i'm not sure.
I use the settings I'm on (with it usually tuned to ~60-75 hard on the last option) for just about all my linework, sketch to final. My eraser is usually on the same settings so I just carve back and forth when I need to refine stuff
been working a lot back and forth between SAI and PS, though, all of those doodles I did over the past few days have been strictly with one PS custom brush
lol

If anyone remembers the old one:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/2Ys14.jpg[/t]
it's from about half a year ago.
half a year? way to make time feel like it flew by, jesus
if anything, I'd say chop in there with a really hard brush to make the beast and the cave a bit more solid looking. Right now you've got really soft edges and it looks very unfinished, even compared to the old one. It may be improved upon and better composed, but it's kinda lacking overall. Keep at it, and don't forget to deepen those values, looks a little light in comparison as well.
I kind of like the old one better

First off I really enjoy the art community on facepunch. A lot of the stuff on here is very inspiring. Every time I go to this thread I want to draw. So anyway, I'm trying to get better but I feel like I don't have enough time. I drew this today. I plan on potentially coloring it and adding more specific details later. Right now it's a WIP. Any thoughts or tips?

Thanks for the crit. I'm probably not gonna continue with this one (pretty bored of it at this point), but I'll apply those points in my next drawing.

I feel like in your original one there is more depth.
Thanks! Do you mean muddy in the areas of transition from light to dark or muddy overall?
Any thoughts on this guys? I don't mean to pester but colour seems to be the number one thing I need to work on and I'm determined to get it sussed
Your palette is muddy! Try different tones.. I can't give you good advice though because I have huge colour issues myself, no matter what colours I use they always come off really unrealistic. I guess it's a combo of not being able to render in colour and having a bad eye for picking colours from refs

People say 'muddy' but I can't find any definite answer as to what 'muddy' is, nor exactly what is causing the muddiness
perspective is super weird i dunno

Gesture gesture gesture
If you develop a good eye for roughing out forms suggestively with minimal lines you can apply it to pretty much anything, and if you have even one good gestural line to describe a body part it's SO much easier to fill in the proper shape on top of that.
I don't think I can explain the process that well because it's pretty intuitive, so I did an example of what I mean:

EDIT- niggaupload is down apparently, imgur is blocking us obviously and imageshack is now register-only, so reup on postimage.org which I have never heard of:

I always ink with photoshop and save the pen tool traces as vectors.
Like this one:

I use cursor though, not tablet.

If I had the time and patience, I'd love to do vectored lines. I'll often use a vector to create a solid piece like the face outline, just sharpening that out enhances so much even when the picture is sketchy as a whole.

a stress-reliever drawing!

this is literally my second time to draw realistically jesus christ

thanks. I think I need to just visualise it better in my head to apply this, because right now I won't be sure what I want in the drawing, so I just make a ton of lines, which as you said before ends up being quite unproductive
http://imageshack.us/f/62/soldiersketchimproving5.png/ I'm painting solder from TF2... *Before I start cleaning up and working on background, should I focus my concerns on anything on this? *And the sketch lines are there because its part of my art style to keep them; but should I try making them a different color or reduce the amount of sketch lines? *Thank You in Advance*
It's still not complete, I'm still trying to get it to look better...
:C
too much highlight on the grenades.

Could it be possible that your monitor's colour calibration isn't right? If it is a consistant issue and you can't see what is wrong with it then that might explain it maybe.

i really love her work. been inspired by it myself

You seem to use a lot of grey-ish or brown-ish colours, not very much vibrancey in the tones. Try using really wacky bright colours for once and see how they can work well. (then look for a middleground)
"muddy" isn't about the colours in your picture. it's used when they mean the brushstrokes in your picture are blurry and transparent. it gives this inconsistent, overlapping look. this comes from using a low brush opacity
it gives this kind of effect (on the left):
[t]http://www.communitymx.com/content/source/B0100/ls-BrushExample_01.jpg[/t]
so the work gets kinda blurry like this (sorry to this person for using the work as an example)
[t]http://i.imgur.com/mNALE.png[/t]
edit: oh wait in this instance i think the person was actually talking about browns and a lack of colour. usually though i think we use it to talk about brushstrokes
