ah! well then that makes perfect sense, my bad! figured it would be pretty bad if you were incorrectly credited
Designing a sword, going to model it. I'm going to make a full project from concept art to ingame item. This is my current progress: Drawing: Detailing: Feedback would be nice, also I can't draw for shit and this is my first time working with a tablet.
Horizon is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too close
Ok thanks, so extend it downwards to get more foreground I guess?
Ok thanks, so extend it downwards to get more foreground I guess?
Use colour and distance-haze and scale of objects and reference photos to get some depth in it

Very nice, I love it! You did a good job of making a sword unique and beautiful without going crazy and doing stuff like this
Use colour and distance-haze and scale of objects and reference photos to get some depth in it
Heh ok, I was actually trying to avoid reference photos a bit because I feel pretty comfortable copying things, wanted to try and work on actually coming up with something that works for myself for once. Now I've actually got a scene started, using some to help improve it doesn't go against that so much now so I'll go look for some similar sort of photos now. Thanks.
thanks mako, bookmarked the hell out of those links. anyways, heres my first study from that lovecastle site. definately going to use it again. crits?
It's looking fairly good, but I think you might need to work on getting the overall shape of things worked out before focusing on details more. Think about the shape of his head under that hat too, it seems like his skull gets kinda small up there. Try doing some sketches as fast as possible to get the feel of drawing the overall shapes better so you don't have time to get caught up doing details too much, and longer more continuous lines would be better too, it seems like it's all very scratchy little lines there.

Those weapons in the picture are truly horrifying.
Just a simple retouching Original
This would probably yield some amazing results now I'm interested
Why not go into the tablet settings and invert the pressure curve? I know it's possible(with loads of crazy commands) in xsetwacom, I'm almost certain there's a much more intuitive windows equivalent.
August 2011 July 2012 Sorry guys I haven't posted anything up in here in a while, I am going to sell my game on steam now rather than it be a mod for Portal 2.
I tried drawing Garret from the Thief box art. Seems the graphite ended up everywhere, and even for all that effort the shadows still turned out very uneven. Just gotta keep practicing until i get better at shading I guess.
