I can't use CS6 because it doesn't have any DPI scaling
Everything looks incredibly tiny at 2560x2048
what
I think it's possible to change the interface in CS5 too. At least I remember doing so in Illustrator

After this I move in fleshing out the shapes and details, much like someone with clay will begin to shave off the remaining excess from the general shape they made. Then it will be onto rendering.
That's how I paint textures :v: You just gotta work fast, but for a long time
I think you might appreciate how this guy explains it.

cool to see someone also likes Flylo. And that stuff is pretty cool too

Uh...
WHAT?!
If you document is 300DPI then the text will look smaller at the same size than if it's 72DPI.
Does CS6 use more memory than CS5? Because my laptop almost caught on fire last time I opened CS5 for 4 hours.
Heyo. I'm doing a pic for a friend and I'm almost done with the one character, but I just realized I forgot to put in the second character.
I know composition should be sorted out from the beginning, but it's a little late for that now.
So what should I do? Should I put the other character

Or do you guys have a suggestion for another location? Thanks.
I've always found it easier on the eyes to work with a dark interface. I know where my buttons and such are, so (to me) it's not a matter of reading anything so much as having a less intrusively bright interface. I've always swapped 3DS max to its dark interface for the same reason, I find it easier to focus on my subject for some reason.
I find it really grating on the eyes to use a dark interface. Neutral gray forever and always, it also seeps into your design less as it doesn't really frame your work with a dark surrounding.

So much black. It makes the picture look dirty.
Also, I vote for the first variant, it's so funny, haha. Hang him high!
Hey guys, long time since I have done any work in this section so I decided to get warmed up by doing a league of legends piece (I am currently addicted to the game, may or may not have contributed to my lack of doing art recently).
The piece is still in the works but I know you all have interest in each other's workflow, so here is the base sketch and then my color template set up:
Basic sketch, canvas is 2500X3500.

Afterwards I begin to lay out the colors and how they will affect the piece. A lot of people need to use templates of some sort, and I highly advise you do it, I just find myself more impulsive in my art so I simply began throwing colors down until I am satisfied with the look and feel.

I love the workflow and composition and intuitive use of colour

I think he means the icons and stuff not scaling with resolution
Did this for a guy on a forum. Will make changes later.

[sup]Damn, isolating is hard[/sup]
You should use a channel-based selection thingy
I would explain it properly but it's been centuries since I did it. I think you duplicate the blue channel, switch off the rest and adjust the levels for a crisp silhouetted edge, then select it and use that selection on your original layer with some feathering. Yeah that sounds about right
Never worked with channels before. A tutorial with pictures would be nice.

Something I drew at school. Should have chosen a different angle.

Okay guys I made the details on the sword silver, what do you think?
Also I might be adding some gems. Any ideas?

my biggest concern is the linework on the handle is sloppy compared to the rest of it and is dragging the overall quality down.

Okay I'll work on the handle, any other concerns?
give it a huge ass laser canon

Going to spend the entire tomorrow to read that.

swords of that period were often made with tightly bound cloth or rope handles, a gentle texture overlay with clean lines would work wonders, id also work on the rendering of the base ring as it still looks a little flat.

most of it is super basic stuff but the last few points are useful

getting there, i think its time to work on the wind generators in the bg next before polishing off the tree trunks and then some final clean up, might add a car on it depending on my mood.
I like it alot, but the shadows don't look "flat" enough. It's just me though.

The shadows need to be angled a bit more, like 25 degrees clockwise.

The shadows are VERY crisp on the left
Also they're a bit big (specifically the gaps between them) on the hill in the distance

Quite proud of this one (despite being horribly generic :) However I have no clue how to add colour correctly, I basically slapped a gradient on there. If i went to overlay browns or whatever on the mountain it seemed to mess with the values too much.
I like it haunted, bit that's bothering me is the edge of the mountain to the left, there is a rectangular section vertically that's off colour.
