What is Kuler for?
literally just a palette combination sharing site/tool. Find inspiration and unique combos that you wouldn't have thought of before
http://kuler.adobe.com
a common thing I see is people will limit themselves to a single palette and see what they can come up with. Depending on the people and desire for challenge, you might or might not be able to use opacity or blend between the colors. Solidly painted single-tone stuff looks awesome in the end but is usually harder to pull off right with some palettes.

What a horrible looking place
So does anyone know to create some nice looking lens flare? Im looking for something for stars, which as you can imagine are a large part of space art. Most lens flare brushes I have found so far are not too good, and are really fuzzy or not high resolution enough.
you'd be best off making one in adobe illustrator with it's flare tool

have you tried observing and reconstructing existing flares?
I might suggest mass effect

or a jj abrams movie

I like anamorphic lens flares
I don't watch a lot of recent films so for me, at least, they're not yet overdone
"I don't watch a lot of recent films" who even are you
I dont mean those kind of lens flares, I mean more the kind that can look good en-masse, like the kind you see in space photography.
Like this

One of the big things that lens flares in space art can do is convey the distance of the stars based on how big the lens flare is. Its more noticeable and less ugly then just making the dot bigger.
I agree with Riku; at the moment I'm imagining a lighthouse to be about 1/4 as tall as that mountain-range/peninsula to the right, but without some point of scale reference I can't know for sure
Thanks, I definiatly need to work on scale. I'll add more scale references in future, it was supposed to be huge but I agree it's confusing.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for coloring a grayscale image in Photoshop? I'm going to do an ink wash of an illustration I'm working on and scan it in to color it digitally in Photoshop. However, I don't really know the right techniques/blending modes/etc. Has anyone ever done this or seen a tutorial on it?

I'm pretty sure the intent was similar, if not inspired by those cavernous under-city sewer overflow things
