Pretty sure this is turning into dgg's rat. I think I'm happy with this version minus the ink blot from my pen exploding. Think I'll reproduce this on some nice kraft card when it arrives and try to sell that.

I did kinda a shit job of it but you get the point. Speaking of things that I did a shit job of, check out these clouds. [t]http://i.imgur.com/9nIgX.jpg[/t]
It depends on the game you're making. Since you're talking about factions, I'm going to assume it's a sort of team based shooter/fighter type deal. If that's the case, I'd work on making the silhouette a bit more readable. Don't get me wrong, as a painting that's fucking brilliant and I want to strangle you for being better than me, but that kind of asymmetrical zebra pattern is going to just blur together into a big mess of colors the moment anything starts moving. Purely design wise, the European plate on his arm kind of clashes with the whole samurai motif. I'd just make both of his arms the same. Just a bit of symmetry never hurt anyone.
Okay so I need to work on my forms and values to make it more readable. Do you know any examples of the colors blurring together once in motion? I have trouble with the design b/c in this project, the genre is sci-fi and I've always been into medieval armor and other archaic designs so this job was a good opportunity to explore. I've also been into a lot of asymmetry design (especially this one b/c this character is the only model that will hold the flag in the faction) just to keep things looking diverse but I guess it would have been plausible to go symmetrical for some cases. Thanks for the help =D

If you look at any of the really popular class based shooters, or even class based games in general, you'll notice that all of the classes have specific patterns or outlines that telegraph to the other players exactly what the class is. So when you're working with things like glowing lines, be wary that they're clearly displayed and are differentiated from the other classes. Good example is Gears of War. Rob Liefeldian design aside, all of the different Locust have a unique series of lights along their torsos and heads that telegraph what kind of mob they are. Same thing with the Geth in ME3. Glowy lights can be your friend if you use them right.
I was bored today, played some valve games, got inspired and did a speedy. 'Hidden' some games in there, there's 4. :L [SUB]the eyes wouldn't work out so I made him cry. Lol.[/SUB]
I may have already asked this question but I'm gonna ask it again because I haven't the time to go back through hundreds of pages of posts haha -Would you (personally) play or be interested in playing a game where the main, playable character was an old man, if this old man was dealing with problems that young people tend to deal with (acceptance/confidence/finding-your-self/etc?

It sounds like a traditional story plot. I think it can work in a game so long as it plays well, and an equal amount of effort has been put into fun game mechanics and storytelling.
Yeah the gameplay mechanics are a big part of it; relevant to the character and plot. The plot is not going to be like 'oh no I must help Mrs Potts to find her cat'; it'll be a bit more fantasy/sci fi than that. Finding yourself in a futuristic or 'industrial' city in an unusual place and having to help them with a catastrophic problem (or similar) and along the way the old man learns how to deal with his own, much smaller and less end-of-the-world-esque problem
Why the hell do I like drawing in half saturated blue so much.

A tragedy. I'm dedicating this study to Shin A.L.
I need to do something other than rocks :/
Honestly this reminded me of oriental architecture. Like someone looked up in a street in 17th century China and there were lots of stars.

i think people were right about the symmetrical face it feels a bit off (nothing organic is ever symmetrical im pretty sure)
i think people were right about the symmetrical face it feels a bit off (nothing organic is ever symmetrical im pretty sure)
Yeah I can kind of see what you're saying. There was no excuse for mirroring other than my laziness. It was still fun to work on, though, and I think it's still quite a success compared to my previous work. But I'll keep it in mind to not mirror so much, especially faces.
I didn't realize you were ragnarokdragon until it was clarified by your DA. Cool to see you on this site =]
do you draw anything except for a ~hot muscular red dragon-dude~ [editline]31st July 2012[/editline] the drawing is cool though [editline]31st July 2012[/editline] apart from the ideal symmetry
I do, but I tend to never post any of 'em on FP. Feel free to look at my blogs if you really want to see something else. But yeah I won't lie that I do draw dragons much more often than anything else. :V But I DO draw other things. I really need to get around to finishing these.
I do, but I tend to never post any of 'em on FP. Feel free to look at my blogs if you really want to see something else.
Yeah, I checked them out. You really gotta start drawing something other than pyros and dragony creatures, imo.
Yeah, I checked them out. You really gotta start drawing something other than pyros and dragony creatures, imo.
You are very right, but it's a shame that my laziness knows no bounds and I end up only drawing things I like. Only times I was ever able to break that habit was when I was in college. But I'll try to draw other things. [sp]Yeah, good luck with that.[/sp]

i think we all know why
Nipple piercings or not this dragon is creeping me the fuck out anyway v:v:v
