Ok, it appears that I just don't have enough imagination to decently draw something more mechanical then a pen, so, I think, I'll stop producing shit and finally concentrate on human portraits and anatomy and stuff. It would be even more usefull too.
Getting down the fundamentals before starting with designing stuff is always a good idea.
I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but does anyone have any really solid tutorials on Photoshop digital painting?
That's much like asking for a tutorial on how to paint traditionally, or for a "how to draw" tut. There's nothing anywhere close to comprehensive enough for your request. On getting started, I suggest picking a youtube vid of some accomplished digital artist, scope their brush and settings and start experimenting for yourself. This way you know your brush isn't limiting you. You'll learn from everything you do from there on in, unless you trace things or something. Then if you want a better idea of something specific, you can look for tuts
Doodled another shitty armor dude yesterday. I hope it's not so random as the previous one. Ok, since the fat pelvis looks like shit, I shrink it a bit to equalize it's width with the shoulders. Is this version better?
i get you're "doodling" or whatever but you really need to think about the bigger issues throughout your work, rather than just placing random panels everywhere firstly, are you drawing a vague skeleton/bodyshape before drawing the armour? it doesn't look it. the armour here looks like it's not designed for a human to wear. secondly, you need to think about breathing space and areas of detail and attention. right now the whole thing is covered in panels and rivets and detail. there's no space where the eye gets a chance to rest. without this there's no flow and there's no particular areas of interest; it's all just a bit jumbled up i'm really envious of your abilities to paint this stuff so quickly and so well rendered but what would take your work further is if you actually thought about your designs

Or combine them at least, because I really like that mechanical suits and stuff even though I suck at drawing them. May be if I will understand the anatomy better, it will give me nicer ideas of armor then I have now. Anyway, thanks for the critique.

-snip- I figured it out. I'll have the final version posted in an hour
Haven't painted in over a year. Made this in a couple of hours.
Alright finished [thumb]http://th06.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2012/214/5/8/the_door_is_always_open_by_timehive-d59krvp.jpg[/thumb] "The Door Is Always Open" Acrylic, Canvas, 11"x14" Advice? Pricing?
I like it, but it seems a bit too squiggly. I love it, but it's not something I'd pay too much for. Then again I'm a painter myself so I find it funny to spend too much on any painting :v:
here's a silly thing i started working on
here's a silly thing i started working on
Her right arm looks a little unnatural, but I'm not sure why.
Her right arm is too small, and angled too far back. I don't understand those pants...
what do you guys mean by "right arm"? as in the arm that's to your right (the one sporting the uzi)? or HER right arm?
I don't understand those pants...
it's a skirt. i forgot to hide the initial anatomy block-out thing
here's a silly thing i started working on
Oh my god those eyes, yes And her right arm is a bit too... Bent. Bones don't work that way.

wait why the fuck is there a slit where her... oh my
Lets just say both arms. Her Uzi arm is bent too far back, and the other one is a little off in several ways. Can't really explain in.
This is probably kind of Off-Topic but it does have to do with something I'm trying to draw. Does anyone know of any decent software that shows the human anatomy and muscles interactively, I've found quite a few like Visual Body etc but that software and many others is either quite pricey or doesn't allow you to manipulate muscles, in otherwords I want to be able to position the arm and see how the muscles move as a result. I will pay for the software if I have to, it's just this Visual Body software seems to have very little features that I can't already find on a free piece of software or on an iPad app for $2.
^ Holy crap that's damn impressive for GCSE level.
Thanks! The theme was 'Animals' so it was pretty broad. All in all I think it took about 20 hours
MSPaint
You said you were going away No need to fuck with that plan, it was going smashingly until now
here's a silly thing i started working on
Don't forget that arms have bones in them, at the moment her right arm is broken. There should always be a thick straight line applicable from the base of the elbow to the wrist, the exterior curves come from muscles
Thanks!
