I think it's just that they're a little to low. Also, the neck is unnaturally cylindrical without any real connection to the body. [editline]4th August 2012[/editline] Overall, the style is solid. I know it's "just a doodle" but here's a quick edit to help you realize neck structure and shoulders. Also, I like the red. I think it should carry on that whole right edge.
I disagree with the bit about the red; I think the selective placement of the highlights now gives it a less monotonous 'whole body rim lighting' look and sort of implies selective positioning of the light

Alluding to the red light source with help blend the focus the light gives in a nice, even crescendo.

I agree, I prefer the tone that the style of the original shoulders sets; fits better with the dreary (but not negative) colour choice
So, I just saw Dark Knight Rises last night. I don't normally geek out too bad, but holy jeez was it awesome. I'm a big Alan Moore fan, and I love how dark the franchise is. Anyways, I decided to do some fan art. I love Adam Hughes' Catwoman, but I also like this design. It's a WIP. I tried to draw Hathaway as best as I could but something is still off... Also, mask or no mask?
It doesn't look all that like anne hathaway. the resemblance is small at best [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] the only reason i knew it was her was that she was dressed as catwoman
her head feels a bit too small to fill the hood like that (unless she has a fro) but otherwise i like it any chance youre coloring it
yeah i just kind of scratched the forms in and the face happened to be the last to be filled in no chance
It doesn't look all that like anne hathaway. the resemblance is small at best [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] the only reason i knew it was her was that she was dressed as catwoman
I disagree; I think if the brow was less heavy set and eyebrows less pointy and jaw a little bit less pronounced it'd be pretty aight
Would anyone be able to help me with this? It's becoming really frustrating and I can't find any solutions anywhere after searching. It's easier to show a picture than to explain it, but as you can see the rendering is really splotchy. When I try to stick to one shade, it just jumps to all random shades and isn't smooth at all. [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] And no, spacing doesn't solve it either.
bored as hell not sure if finished
Couldn't sleep this night, so I scribbled this.
Just woke up and decided to check forums. Holy fuck this is scary. Not so scary as normandy's concentration camp victim, but still. That's what happens when you have insomnia and draw at 4 am. Fixed that horrible giraffe neck at least.
Your lights and your darks are quite close together, more contrast would be nice without oversaturating it I like your things [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] @ salmon
bored as hell not sure if finished
I like the cartoon-ish style. As stated earlier, more contrast would do the job. The shading is very well done, though.
sketch
Are they buildings or just overt brushstrokes, I really can't tell It's very nice though I would like it more if it didn't remind me so much of District 9 but that's just me

Quick question (not sure if this is the wrong thread but I will shoot), I want to learn some basic art ability, not for presentation really just for concept art and personal uses. I know all my tools and how to use them but I want to know if there are any good tutorials for doing the brushstrokey/square style you see a lot in sketchs. I have like no sense of perspective and have a really jittery hand so all I want to be able to draw for is concept-arting before modeling.
eh, felt like I was doing this foreeeeeeever, I thought it'd look better
This is fantastic, it really reminds me of something I saw natives drawing when I was in the first nations, just that this is a bit more westernized and comic-like. Very interesting. So, are there any tutorials as good as Bob Rosses tutorials, but for acrylic?
Thanks man! Gonna give the owl another shot today. Any glaring problems anyone can detect, except the pose and decoration around the eyes, which I'm already going to fix?
The roundness of the right eye.

You need to be really good at translating vibes and ideas from your head onto paper, being able to draw/paint things without ref and so on. So you're pretty much stuck learning and developing artistically the same way as the rest of us, before channeling your ability into that sort of thing. Perspective theory is easy by the way, just read up on it. Application is a different story ofc but it really would help to know it properly before you dabble in it.
i like the owl but i don't like how some parts seem completely detached like the claw and some of the feathers
I don't mind the claws as that's stylistic, the wings however seem oddly placed and kind of flat
I get that as well when using the Transfer settings, it looks better without it imo.
But that's the whole purpose of a tablet. To have the pressure sensitivity. Otherwise I could just use a mouse. What's your alternative to transfer? I'm thinking that the spring in the pen itself might have snapped.
I'm pretty sure pressure sensitivity comes from having shape dynamics enabled? [editline]5th August 2012[/editline] still a work in progress, need to draw the wings, yet. I think this is a better drawing but I really don't like the expression. looks waaay too angry birds for my liking.
I agree, I liked the expression on the first better. Now he's an Angry Bird.
Well that was one hell of a case of blind leading blind. Time to fuck it and call it a day.

Two works I made last night. One is my girlfriend and I, another is just a logo of sorts. [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/GVfg1p.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/H4It3s.jpg[/img_thumb]

As said, I am a modeler so all I really want to learn how to sketch is so I can use it to model. Honestly most likely I will almost always be drawing in complete 2d view.
