Well, here goes.

I told you it was awful. Sorry for ruining the thread with this. In my defense, I haven't been drawing for very long, but I don't know how far that excuse could possibly get me.
[T]http://i.imgur.com/DqVxb.png[/T]
Original pencil drawing, desaturated.
Anyway, I have three questions.
1. How awful is it?
2. Should I quit art, or try to get better? Basically, do I have potential?
3. Any advice?
Stop being so negative. If you really want to do art you have to believe in yourself. It's not a bad drawing at all, just pretty small. I'd like to see more of what you can do.
The best advice I've ever gotten is to just draw all the time. Draw everything you see, draw ideas from your head, just constantly work to improve.

1. it's not
2. No, art is a skill, not a natural talent. Like any other skill, it can be honed with hard work and dedication. Everyone has to start somewhere.
3. Draw bigger, with more confidence, and don't be scared of making mistakes
much better, imo
I love that.
I could see it being a very popular card design or something, really cute.
Robbobin do you have the resources right now to make those at a large scale? I really want one on canvas :)

Thanks.
I like how you both noticed how small it is.

Random text says 'THE PIPE IS LEAKING' if you know what that means.

I can't immediately think of the best way to do this but I'd definitely never turn away a request like that! Does anyone know anything about art prints? I planned on getting some prints made of it anyway, I'm just not sure how well it'd scale up. I'll definitely look into it! I guess if push comes to shove I'll hopefully at least have the to-scale prints or if you have a little more money to hand I could draw a larger scale one especially for you!
Thanks.

I knew it was small because I used to draw tiny when I first started too, it was mainly because I was scared of messing up.
drew my bands mascot

if ur interested, here's the mascot in action on stage:

My stepdad just told me he'd pay me £500+ to do a massive mural in the dining room, super. The room's oriental themed with red/white/black decor, I'm thinking I'll do one of those chinese mountain landscapes with the really obvious brush strokes.
http://www.cnartgallery.com/images/landscape/cnag220420.jpg
It's a pretty massive undertaking though, the room is 10x7'. Daunting as fuck, even though back in my a-level art days I loved working on a massive scale.

And I thought I drew on a small scale :v:
Don't worry dude, your art's not bad. The trick is to just keep drawing and over the years your progress will become really apparent.
Bonus points if you actively study and practice
How do you do those? Not that I have any idea of how anything works but I'm curious, your stuff is always amazing
thanks a lot dude I really appreciate it! It's just fineliners, a white gel pen (trust me, finding a reliable white pen is a fucking nightmare), a white crayon and white chalk for the border on brown kraft card. I really love working on off-white paper; it's totally beyond me why white paper is the standard for art.

Often when I do a proper piece on white paper I'll use really strong coffee or brown/yellow watercolours to give it a nice aged look

Hello, people. I attempted to make an avatar version of that fish, because that's why I drew it in the first place. I will be using a new avatar of my creation every month, and that fish is for September.

My question to you is, should I add a border? Also, does the generic background look decent enough?
I don't mean to ruin your perception of it but it sort of looks like a penis

I know. My brother won't stop bothering me about it.
Some cover art for a game.
Sorry for size.

I feel like the text should be bigger. It's nice, though.

If multiple people are mentioning it then it'd be a good idea to think if that's the perception you want people to have of it. Everybody will take their own view on what you've made and it won't always be the view you intended. If people are seeing it as a penis then that's what they'll see

I don't mind too much. It'd be funny if because of that people looked way too into it and made up some interpretation about human sexuality or something.
Also, do you like fish dicks?
Shit, I just fucking realized I made it worse by saying this:
Random text says 'THE PIPE IS LEAKING' if you know what that means.
That's not what I meant, it's a reference to Don Hertzfeldt's Everything Will Be Ok.

YES, I LOVE THEM.
WAIT A SECOND, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU SAID FISH STICKS. REALLY GOT ME MAN.
Also the first game prototype is done! There are a couple of bugs but it's not the end of the world.
The art for the environments was done in two hours, and I'm not happy with it. It's obviously a sketch but even the colours aren't right. I'll be redoing it heeeaps. Hopefully gonna keep the loose, concept-art style for the final game though; should be interesting.
Animations are done in a real back-alley way (it basically switches out different sprites when you do an action rather than jumps to a different point on the timeline) which I don't think is the 'approved' way to do it, but it works! And it means I can easily keep track of my animations. I had to figure a bunch of stuff out myself due to not having time to learn the 'approved' ways, so I'll be posting on the AS forum to see what I could be doing better.
Still don't understand all of the code that's in here, but I'm gonna go back and check it out soon.
Here's the prototype. It will take a little while to load, so it won't appear right away.
If might not run on your machine (some people are having issues); please let me know if you have any problems!
Looking interesting Maloof.
Battled a spider with an airsoft gun, felt like making a drawing that might not be entirely accurate of the battle itself...

I love the art-style. The game itself is very buggy at the moment, but it IS a prototype. Good job!

Yeah it took me quite a few page refreshes to get it going properly but it seems to be working well so far.
Nice to see some indie platformers with some interesting visual styles other than ~retro 8-bit~
Thanks guys! Hopefully when I sort out the loading screen business and publish it properly it'll load up sweet as
Took some time off today, worked on this one for a little bit some more. Probably gonna saturate the sky a lot more to put some contrast into the Doctor.
