For all it's worth I scanned them last night: and as a bonus the raygun pug from a day or so ago too:
Exactly how big are these? And do you charge 3.5 for each of them?
Exactly how big are these? And do you charge 3.5 for each of them?
Oh noo, £3.50 for postage, I was gonna charge ~£10 for them + pp I think, hadn't decided. William Chekavoc and the pug are 5x7", Louis Preston Franklin is about 4.5x8".
Okay, I'll take the three you posted for 33.5 £(which is includes postage). How about that? Maybe we should take this conversation up in private chat.
That looks really cool. What is it exactly?
i have no idea. also, that's only the top half of the image, I'll post more of it when I get around to working on it some more

[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16580912/2012-08-11%2019.07.24.jpg[/img_thumb] I want to do an oil painting of adventure time and I sketched a preview of it. Any tips? Ideas? The empty space on the left and top would just be filled with a gradient Light blue > Dark Blue
I'll call it before everyone else in the thread does: don't work on lined paper. Otherwise that's literally the only thing anyone will comment on.

oh sorry, rubbish comprehension skills. I'd consider doing it portrait unless you're thinking of doing anything interesting with the background. Possibly even on a 1:1 canvas. Really not a lot of critique we can give really though, seeing as the characters aren't original or anything.
It's annoying how I can make straight lines and nice curves and stuff easily on paper or with paint and the like, but with this tablet it's pretty difficult. For now I'm trying to get used to it by drawing random dots and trying to make straight lines between them and trying to make relatively smooth circles. Does anyone here have any exercises they would recommend for getting used to a tablet? I've been using paint tool sai and I know it has vector capabilities but I still think it's better for me to be able to draw steady lines with my tablet so I don't encounter trouble in the future.

It might help the composition to not have everyone crammed in a corner while the rest is just empty space. I think it would help if the entire painting was a rectangle whose top was about a centimetre above the top of the sword, and whose left side was about a centimetre to the left of the dog's hand. Either the dog's right arm starts too high or the left too low, and his left arm seems to be coming out of nowhere. The kid's left hand seems a little wonky. Given the thickness of his fingers at the tip, the knuckles should appear higher off the sword. The kid is facing directly forward, so his arms look flat because they're just lines when they meet his torso. Both arms consequently appear as though they're obscured by the torso. Remember that his shirt has sleeves, so the lines separating the torso and arm should be further from the torso. The dog isn't looking at anything, and his pose in general looks kind of stiff.
Not quite sure what to think about this. Not too bad compared that I haven't drawn with a tablet in weeks I guess.

Fuck how did I not see that. Shit this is so easy now.
just before i go any further, how's this going?
I'm still a huge novice myself but I think you're getting ahead of yourself by even adding any colour at all. You should maybe go and do gesture drawings before going to the face and hair. The mouth seems huge and the eyebrows are way too arched I don't think I've seen eyebrows like that in real life. The eyes are not to bad though actually; they are better than eyes I have drawn anyway. :v:

Lined a quick sketch might colour it if i can figure out how to do it right.

[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16580912/2012-08-12%2000.32.23.jpg[/img_thumb] It's not much, but I'm proud that my 1st attempt since grade school was not half bad...
Used textures for the first time, still WIP: ya or na?
I never realized how much free resources there are for learning about art on the internet! Also you guys in this thread are pretty inspiring to me because when I look at this stuff it makes me want to develop the skills to be at that level.

I tried making a sphere. It turned out pretty blurry. What do you think I did correctly and what do you think I did incorrectly? I've been making these spheres over and over and over again and this one seems the least bad.

What do you have the blending, dilution, and persistence set to on the brush tool?
