at art college, classes don't start until the 6th so I have some time to scribble around until I'm banned from the digital medium. The art college I attend have digital classes, but I waved the first one.
The lightning and focus is really nice. But the texture definition on the clothing and skin is actually not good at all if you ask me.
Good luck in school, sounds awesome.
but why?
but why?
Because it's all super smooth and reacts to the light in the exact same way. The highlights are just as strong and spread out on the shirt as on the skin.
Then there is of course the simple fact that the skin is coloured in very solid colours which creates no variaton in tone, and thus no skin texture.
Just out of curiosity, have I seen you on /ic/ before? feel like i've seen some of those drawings some place before.
Yes, I go there sometimes.
i can't remember if i ever posted this

It's very nice
is that cos it'd be like "this is the button you use to change brush size :)"
my 2D classes at game art design were like that
I had a class where I had to point out to the teacher that there was such a button, and that he didn't have to keep doing it painstakingly on the slider. He got angry

I'm really liking the way the text helps suggest the shape of the tank, it's a small detail but a nice touch
I dont know any better place to post this, but i bet you guys will like it.
Its a guy who simplifies Andrew Loomis's head drawing tips into one video.

I for one found it very useful.

does anybody here ever read short stories that are posted?
I don't personally bother to read people's stories, but I'm sure at least a few must.

He's Stanislav Prokopenko. I've been learning almost everything from him :v:
So I thought to myself, "I should try animating something, it can't be all that bad."

In practice, no, but in theory... no
I wish we did because I have some really deep shorties about meerkats who play the banjo and eat only low-fat yoghurt but it looks like it will never see the light of day

While trying to make that guy look a bit older than he was in the sketch, I accidentally painted a Shepard.

the profile doesn't look very alike to the front view
what you need to do is draw some horizontal lines across key features as a guide

While your rendering is nice as always, I think you could really stand to study some facial anatomy to back it up. It seems as though you've drilled a sort of intuitive way of drawing a somewhat stylised face to the extent that it appears convincing enough in finished pieces, but you have a bit of sameface going on as a result of this. Looking at your sketch, it looks like skilled guesswork for structure and feature placement. If you were to draw a skull under there, it'd be pretty badly warped out of proportion.
So I guess work on a better proportioned base on which to build.
