I mean I love Led Zeppelin but this just looks nasty
Looks alright. The highlights are more or less white instead of greyed out and the color scheme is mainly warm but has a lot of details in more cool colours to bring out some variation and detail. It's pretty different from pMnky's collage where the highlights are just turned into a not-all-that-bright yellow, seagreen or pinkish red. All there generally is, colour wise, is one single yellow colour and one single seagreen colour to create a complimentary contrast, all other variations of hues are non-existent which makes it dull. The red circle doesn't seem to have any connection to the rest of the piece either, it kind of just is there. But why?
That whole cross-processed 80s cd cover aesthetic never sat well with me; it just makes me feel a bit uneasy. I mean I love Led Zeppelin but this just looks nasty I dunno, that's just how I feel about it. It's not a judgemental feeling; it's just how it affects me. I know many people love that style so keep at it if it's what you enjoy
I know what you mean, it makes me feel uneasy too. When I started, I wanted to recreate state of mind/mind through textures, colors and layout. At the time, a blue, lonely and endless sea of concrete material was the right metaphor. Then I stopped because I went on vacations. Had a hard time coming back to it because I wasn't impregnated anymore. And then lately I've been feeling kind of unsettled with my own ideas, feelings and views (on this work but not only) so I guess those fucked up colors and this agressive all-seeing eye are an accurate depiction of my actual state of mind. I don't really know how I ended doing this. Maybe the right thing to do is to forget about it for a moment and come back to it later. Even if I tried to keep some of the colors/elements from the previous WIP I don't quite feel right about it. Yet. For example, when I did this one, I ended with 10 different versions that were mixed up bits by bits. In the end I was satisfied and the whole thing included a bit of each version. The weird thing is that I'm only satisfied when the thing is not "mine" anymore. I hate to be too close from what I create and right now that's what I'm doing... tl;dr: fucked up brain lately, can't achieve an artwork without raping the whole thing to death. [editline]9th September 2012[/editline] Oh yeah, no portfolio yet. Too few works.
I'm working on character designs of classic fairy and folk tale characters, which I will eventually digitally paint and then 3D model. Here's some concepts for Paul Bunyan and Jack. Thoughts?
Na but the place where I live the guys set the heaters to 'too hot' so they get to like 24C sometimes I think that something inside the pen expands a little when the heat rises and that causes it to register being touched to the tablet wrong I dunno, it's been dropped a fair few times and it's like 4-5 years old now
Fair enough, the ferrite cores Wacom use are as weak as tissue paper You can usually repair them pretty well with supeglue :v: Just sort of dab it around the core that needs fixed and let it dry for a few hours

I don't think that is broken; I pull it out every so often when I'm fiddling

Mine do this really often
Not mine but I felt like sharing because I think it's the greatest Beethoven portrait I've seen:

Well it's got flash lines down the side where the two halves fit together, but there doesn't seem to be a way to pull it apart and guarantee that it'll go back together

Standard graphire 4 pen, only black instead of silver The rubber grip came off a couple of years ago so I've just been using it bare-plastic. Eraser also conked out, but I never used it anyway; much quicker to just use 'E'
Oh, you're not going to get that open without smashing it, sadly :v:
Yeah I know haha Nah it's all g, I've got a bit of student loan I can draw on to get a new pen
Yeah I know haha Nah it's all g, I've got a bit of student loan I can draw on to get a new pen
I wish I could do that so easily :x I've went through 6 blooming pens in just under a few years

I've dropped this tablet and pen more times than I can count. It's got scratches and chips and it's still truckin
i'm not really one to tell you how to direct your characters, but if you're going for the stereotypical lumberjack look for paul then you should probably make his legs shorter / thicker
For sure, I already thickened them up and shortened them a bit before even reading this. I just don't feel like taking another picture. Thanks. though.

I've done a few things using Colors!3D on my 3DS. It's a nifty little program, well worth the asking price, highly recommend it.
There has been some weird shit going through my mind recently. Dunno if it's finished. Dunno if I like it, or if I hate it. About the lack of contrast, it's there to simulate the mat texture of the paper.
Was this inspired by Tycho? the positioning of the cheekbone looks really set back and the neck-to-adam's apple bit looks off. good rendering as usual though try mixing up your pallet, especially for skintones. all your guys are always really red

And the reason why they all red is probably because I still have my monitor uncalibrated like hell. Will rent the colorimeter this week to fix it. It's really a strange feeling when you come to your friend and realize that all your stuff has it's pallet and values fucked up :)
So is it like MSPaint but you pay for it?
It's a bit nicer than MSPaint. You use the stylus to draw/paint stuff, not to mention you can draw on a few 3D plains (which is what I did with those, so the snow is popping out of the screen and whatnot). I don't do it professionally or anything, I've had no real training other than some basic art classes, but I feel that those turned out pretty sharp. [editline]9th September 2012[/editline]
lmao
Why this reaction? Just curious is all. EDIT: I assumed from the title that this thread was just for "Creative Work", but if this is more "Professionally Done Stuff", then I understand, I only really do this stuff for fun anyway.

I haven't drawn any women for a long time, so I think I got a bit rusty on that. blegh, I'm gonna need to practice on anatomy
