I should really put my life in some order
the piece would look better and more accurate if you drew just a guy underneath first, then added the armour.

I did this amongst all the "learning to see" practice i thought it turned out cool, even if it didn't really turn out a whole lot like max and i tweaked some background stuff cause it ended up looking cool lol [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8702336/AI_Drawings/2012/Canvas_154.PNG[/t]
An absolutely spectacular piece, unfortunately marred by the fact that the character's arms are incredibly dinky.
I guess you mean those stranded things in forearm area? Honestly, I like that kind of a bit thin "bared arm" thingy. Dunno if it makes them look dinky.. But since my sense of beauty is kinda miserable, heh, I think I should take your words into account. Thanks.
so this was from last year and this one was finished 20 minutes ago i'm feeling pretty good about myself
Honestly, one day I just found that I have no big perspective in drawing for..well, commercial purposes. I just don't have enough imagination, and practising anatomy really takes time and effort. The matter is that I usually come late from work and just don't have enough strength to do something bigger then watch a movie or draw some relaxing silly shit like the last one. I know it's a bad excuse and sounds like whining, but it's all that I've got. I'm really envious of you guys who have chosen a hopefully right path (I mean, art uni's and stuff). But it looks like it's too late to change something for me.
Bullshit, you have a lot of technical ground on most of us in this thread I would say. A little motivational adjustment isn't going to kill you completely!
Had a few spare hours and decided to finally look into some 3d editing software, since I had to make something simple I decide to make this: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/5sBrm.jpg[/thumb] EDIT: Scratched up version: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/i1AS4.jpg[/thumb]

Just sketched this. I'm fairly happy with the result myself. Thoughts/critique greatly appreciated! Also, sorry about the quality, had no scanner available. :c
then I guess this might be the wrong thread to post, because we will critique it anyway.
Actually, I have nothing against a critique. And concerning the thread to post..well, lost of people with different skills post their drawings here, so, I hope you guys wouldn't mind if I will sometimes post my ugly drawings here.

Even using just two values and placing shadows where they should go will create a far more believable face than the symbolic approach.

And concerning the thread to post..well, lost of people with different skills post their drawings here, so, I hope you guys wouldn't mind if I will sometimes post my ugly drawings here.
but whats the point of giving you critique if you already have decided to disregard it? [editline]30th September 2012[/editline] and it's nothing about skills, drawings will be critiqued on the level the artist is on anyway.
but whats the point of giving you critique if you already have decided to disregard it?
Nope. I'm really grateful for all the critique. I just keep it in mind to work on the problems in the future, when I will have more free time, if it concerns big stuff like anatomy, or trying to fix the problem in the next piece, if it's the matter of things like design or something like that. Also, honestly, I havent's got much feedback to my previous stuff, mostly just ratings (obligatory "funny" from that JerichoRus guy is obligatory) and a few useful replies from guys like Chesty. So, I think, nothing will change much. And the other reason is that I just want to share my drawings with someone, because it's pretty sad to draw and then just put your stuff in some folder with "older" pictures to forget about it forever.

You've got a lot of talent, but naturally also some weaknesses. What do you do? A. Wallow in self-depreciation, self-pity, and other melodramatic bullshit. B. Draw. >_ ---------------- This game is called life, btw, and you have only one shot.
I had another crack at the whole "shady metrocop standing in front of a citadel" sort of thing for a poster, I'm planning on making a set of them with similar proportions. The details are all a bit small to see here but the print's going to be quite large, so i'm hoping that won't be a problem

If you struggle with your imagination look into procedural generation of ideas, Alchemy and other software can help a lot, what I'm showing is quite a bad example but look into it because it can help a huge amount: [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10565588/Pictures/concepting.png[/t] (They're racing vehicles similar to the Wipeout series) This may not make any sense to you but that's the idea, it makes a huge amount of sense to me and it helps get a basic idea in your head before you go into further detailing/final concept.

The composition is a bit questionable though, and I'm not sure about the really tall portrait idea. A lot of elements and similar values are getting tangled up at the bottom there

Atmospheric perspective is very nice.

I feel like they should be getting smaller than they are as they recede. I could be wrong though. Also the way you have the nearest one fully rendered and then abruptly go to silhouettes without much discernible lighting difference is kind of jarring. -The ground itself looks sloppy. The round brushwork in the shadowed areas makes it look flat (on the plane of the computer screen, not on the ground plane) and the total lack of detail makes me wonder what I'm looking at. Is it a street? If so there should be sidewalks, streetlights, trash cans, stuff that streets have. Even a large alley would have a bunch of stuff in it. Right now it looks like everything is covered with sand, except the cops are walking around on top of it. The rest of your drawing is detailed very nicely so why not do the same with the ground?

More depressing stuff.
I love the idea but all the copy/pasting ruins it for me a bit
