You're probably the first person ever on this thread to show appreciation of a work by not proposing sexual intercourse with its author or the piece itself haha!
Honestly I like it too, I'm just usually too lazy to post. This could make a cool album cover or something. At least for me it's strongly associated with some music like Placebo or similar bands.
do you upload your stuff anywhere pMnky? like devientart or something?
Finally made something after almost three weeks of not touching a pen. Oh guys, it's 5 am. I should really put my life in some order
I really want to see that in a videogame.
i think i have [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] like 10 times
Well okay, but I seriously love the art itself of it.

my skills are limited to retarded sketches with no anatomy
i think i have [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] like 10 times
Honestly, that's the main problem, and not only mine. Lots of the best guys who draw these suit'n'mecha'n'armor things have this "I've seen this before" problem. There were so many sci-fi games and movies with so many cool ideas implemented that you must have outstanding imagination to invent something that looks fresh and realistic at the same time.
design isn't always about outstanding imagination. it's about a great depth of knowledge that is grounded in many different mediums. if you only watch modern scifi films and play scifi video games then the only thing you'll come out drawing is stuff that looks like it's from those two sources of information, regardless of whether you're the most wildley imaginative person in the world the greatest designs in the world didn't come from nowhere; bladerunner's los angeles, the xenomorph, the uss enterprise, the military shit in avatar, stormtroopers etc etc... they weren't all built in a day by a single random spark of imagination brilliant design takes research and a great depth of knowledge in many subject areas to create something that is both interesting, aesthetically pleasing, but also 'realistic'. for example; a stormtrooper helmet isn't just a random white shape someone doodled and thought looked cool - it's a well thought out design that takes into consideration the real technology, both existing and fictional, that would be required for the design to fulfil it's intended real-world function so yeh it's not just luck and imagination and, if anything, luck and imagination are the tiniest part of what is really just hard work
Yeah, I know that there is a lot of work hiding behind these designs. I just tried to say that on the one hand, this helmet must be heavily thought and have some model of how it's used to work, and on the other - you need to make it unique and recognizable by implementing some new ideas. And the last part is becoming more and more difficult since lost of ideas are already heavily used and "taken". Also, honestly, I don't like Avatar's military much. Yeah, they look cool and functional, but that's exactly the situation when I can say " I've seen this before". Those heli's look like banshee's (or whatever they called) from SC2 and many other games, and mecha's are really remind me of Matrix. I think that the most cool mechanical designs I've seen last time were in "District 9". I really like how they made alien's vehicles look functional, realistic and "insect-like" at the same time.
I had to examine closely to discover that they weren't identical I should have to look closely to discover that copy/pasting occured imo I didn't say it was cheating, you just pick up on pasted elements in art very easily and it undermines the value of the work for me. But expressing continuity by copy/pasting? That sounds pretty silly and pretentious
In fact the islands, 3 of them, were the same and one of them was just horizontally inverted. You can call it cheating (or a draft) since it was only to visualize the position and shape of the future real ones.
do you upload your stuff anywhere pMnky? like devientart or something?
I must create my website and remake my tumblr! My artwork is nearly finished I think. Will post later, I need a fresh look on it. [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
Damn he looks "flat". And the hand was sloppy.
Make the bottom of the armor plate more round and/or tilted
Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but what do you think of Sketchbook Express?
I haven't used Sketchbook Express much before. I do like some of the features it has and its simplistic interface, but the results vary on the skill of the user and how well the program is utilized.
Did a sketch for a watercolor I'm gonna start today
I have a shirt of this, wore it today actually. Really nice job.
forcing myself to draw a digital piece ever day whole month
I'm gonna start doing a bunch of these shitty drawings for the school paper every month.
shouldnt political cartoons have some sort of satirical message or opinion? all that drawing says is what's going on in simple terms... terms i'm not entirely sure are correct because isn't the island just a fishing village and nothing else? so the dollar sign and oil rig things seem misleading [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] cute drawing though
I wanted to make an OC for the name "Shenanigansen" Some sketches yesterday: Oh, god, why. But that's just thinking with a pen, I guess, didn't really have a clear idea yet of what I was drawing. Not gonna bother with the story, but the premise is that the mask houses some sort of mischievous spirit that loosely possesses the wearer.
Brushes and stuff are still really soft yo.
forcing myself to draw a digital piece ever day whole month
Such a good idea, I will do this at some point during the summer. g'luck [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline]
Not gonna bother with the story, but the premise is that the mask houses some sort of mischievous spirit that loosely possesses the wearer.
These are unpleasent to look at because my eyes keep trying to bring all the blurry muddy transparent greys into focus ow my head

finally getting around to using my tablet and learning to draw for serious whats the best settings to have brushes on, in terms of pen pressure and such?
gestures and stuff, first attempt ever, still learning. going deeper into anatomy and such later in the class i suppose [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7856270/IMG_5497.JPG[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7856270/IMG_5499.JPG[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7856270/IMG_5500.JPG[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7856270/IMG_5501.JPG[/t]
[T]http://puu.sh/1b148[/T] An entry for a contest, and yeah i know i ran out of imagination and didn't spend too much time to finish it.
I have that mouse. Clever [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] Also can you guys give me feedback on how to achieve a better effect on this? I'm trying to get loose fitting/baggy clothing. I've never done anything like this before so all help appreciated [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/10565588/Pictures/5.png[/t]
I had a productive morning, got quite a bit of progress on a new table concept I came up with yesterday. All I need to do now is build a jig to bend a piece of walnut into a squared U shape to use for a leg support and change the geometry of the table and lower/lengthen it a bit. It feels almost nautical. Also for a table top it will be a sheet of angled glass. I wanted the whole table to be made of as little material as possible while still being strong. I'm excited to see this one come alive.

Hey people I got a question. When you get into figure drawing, what are the most important things you as a beginner has to focus on? Posture? Anatomy? I've been dicking around with shapes and stuff for a while, and wanted to do something a bit more interesting.
