Okay yeah sorry I was kind of unhelpful there. It looks like you drew a face's features and put it where the face should go, but failed to account for size and perspective. It's pointed farther down and to the left than the features would suggest. The eyes look a little bigger than they need to be, as do the lips.
I'm sorry I don't really have a good enough understanding of anatomy to help you Rob - it's just that something looks off to me and this is something you can look into.
Admittedly, in retrospect, 'way off' is an exaggeration, it's somewhat off in a fashion that's not really apparent until a second glance.

bye bye thread
So I'm quite new to the pen tool (photoshop CS5) - how exactly do i change the thickness? Been googling and all the answers says something with a palette, a pic would help!

I believe you open the brush tool, change the size, then apply this as a stroke to the pen tool
I dunno, the pen tool always weirded me out a bit in terms of applying graphics to the curve information

I have no troubles with the curves, however setting a thickness is a real challange :suicide:
Anyways new problem, i chose a line arrow and now i ca't un-chose? it always makes an arrow!

People usually use Illustrator for vector work, the pen tool in PS is pretty limited. I don't think it's meant to be used to make weighted lines, only shapes.
i like sparingly used chromatic apparitions

Rude motherfuckers with your thinly veiled compliments

Thank you sir :)
Kinda annoyed with myself for not getting the face right; I'm otherwise pretty happy with it. But it was fun to do and I'll do something similar soon.
Yeah, everyone struggles with anatomy (I know I do), but you're totally on the right track.
Keep at it man! Also I personally think the hair and the dress turned out great!
Hey! Looks like I got some space after all!

Now, it's full. I'm not done with it yet but I need some help. Do I have to use softer pencils to add in some detail/value into this? Drew this with 5H, 4H and 2B pencils.

It lacks content because my folders are all messed up but anyway that's where I will post most of what I do (prints/installations etc).
I don't get it, what is it
A satyrical net artwork criticizing "vintage" editing of pictures/artworks by people who love to trick people and themselves into thinking that a simple finish could be an actual artistic/intellectual/aesthetical approach when - at best - it just is a mimicking, naïve and uneducated obvious fucking parody.
Instagram and Facebook artists, or even people that blindly use cool/trendy techniques instead of being actually creative and honest, y'know.
But in the end it's just a private joke for pedantic wannabe graphic designers and others net artists like me!
hilarious!
it isnt funny sorry
it isnt funny sorry
It's not supposed to.
You used the words parody, satire, and joke all in reference to the image. What was I supposed to think. Either way its not creative work and makes a point that everyone already understands.

I only really do art when I'm downright bored and tired of working on music, or I need it for a little project.

Okay so let's pretend this was made to be absolutely serious and not funny, like someone would give this kind of advice to whoever finds it on a dedicated internet page (that's why I employed the term net art work and not artwork).
Here it lacks the proper contextualization because you know who/why/how. We're also on a thread and on a website where everyone sure understand that point. That's not quite the same thing on Facebook/Instagram or the rest of the internet/world.
Now I'd be interrested to know your definition of creative work and why this can't be. Also the word parody was aimed at people actually doing this kind of stuff to their picture, they're the parody.
Pretty happy with how this turned out

If you actually follow these instructions, multiply totally ruins any whites. Of course this is supposed to be satirical, but using Lighter Color worked better for me.

Yep. The violet filter with this opacity value and Lighten blending would kill the blacks completely. And that shade of yellow/orange is really fucking harsh for the whites too.
Now if you're going to use a 90% opacity and such saturation with both that's of course a really big exagerration but some people are really close to this kind of settings with their photographs/whatever. For their defense I have to say that they don't necessarily know what they or their software are/is doing for them and on the other hand that moderately "killing" the whites or the darks as part of a bigger approach is OK (and can also be done without 'specific' filters).
I will suppress the +'s because that makes you think you have to combine these pictures. I also need to add the color value on the violet filter so everything is b&w and you don't think the diagram actually tells to use b&w pictures. Or I will make more images using only greys and violets. I might even make a whole website dedicated to teach people bad habits. Or a small paper publication. That'd be fun.
