I cant seem to go through an entire lecture without zoning out and getting really sleepy. I always start drawing some shit so that I dont fall asleep, but it never gets to that level of detail because I still try to concentrate on what the professor is saying
You can make up a whole different lightning scenario if you want, but no, not necessary at all. I think in this case, if you're going to pull it off at all you need to not have any black lines at all and rely purely on the shading, otherwise the black outlines collide with the high-key lightning. If you're going to use linework, then use it where there is a dire need for detail or it's really dark. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3655193/BrucieCampingbell.jpg[/t] [editline]21st October 2012[/editline] Well when I saw the reference image now it makes sense because that line was a scar, not a cheekbone. :v:
eh, i dunno man, i think once again, your example looks worse
eh, i dunno man, i think once again, your example looks worse
His has a more coherent style going through it which makes it overall better, but it lacks a clear lightsource and doesn't give too much of a damn about facial structure in terms of the shadows. Mine is more true to the reference and is showcasing what I'm talking about without doing it throughout the whole thing which causes a stylistic crash. I'm no artist so even attempting to do so would just worsen my point. As it stands I find mine to look better as a drawing of Bruce Campbell whilst his looks better as a drawing. I can't stop thinking that his looks like Clint Eastwood because of all the lines at the eyes. But none of that shit matters, I'm just giving him hints and tips about how to improve and illustrating what I mean. Nobody else his helping him so I'm the best he's got atm.
Nah i totally get you, it was basically a half arsed sketch and i just threw some grey underneath it. Maybe it's better to go all one way or the other next time.
Hey all. I recently applied at my local UPS store and the owner wants to hire me because I know a little bit of photoshop. I would LOVE to expand my knowledge and get a lot better. Are there any really good tutorial sites? I have of course googled it but I was just curious if there were any that some of you are or were partial to. Thanks! :)
Tutorials for what? That's extremely vague.

What do you need to know? There is no such thing as a tutorial about Photoshop (beyond what tools it has). There are tutorials about how to use Photoshop to do things, but photoshop itself is just a tool with lots of tools in it.
how do you guys pay for art colleges the art colleges here are 100k plus for a degree [editline]22nd October 2012[/editline] and i know not a lot of artists make that much bank

I was primarily interested to see if anybody here favorites a certain site that is known for quality tutorials about anything to do with Photoshop.
Some quick concept idea thing for a religious fanatic cult of weirdos.

Not really happy with the top of the Kangaroo's leg and the Space suit gave me grief on the sloth. Anything you guys have to add with really help as always.

Plus on three of them the robes don't look like they're hanging naturally, they look rigid and conical.

I don't think his dgg's version is a masterpiece or anything but I think his critique is still valid; it is flat and lacking a clear lightsource somewhat.

I'm giving myself tonight to get this game prototype FINISHED; the basic site, the graphics, and if there's time, the sound. I've got until wednesday to catch up on documentation and write analyses, so there isn't any time to lose! It's going to be presented on-location during our degree program open night on a single computer in lobby-type area, so it has to be easy to restart when one person leaves and another approaches. I'll have business-card-style postcards on a table nearby as well. Here's the latest build with a near-final website. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/83454840/Final%20Release/FinalRelease.html

Intuitively that's what I tried doing the first time

Again I am giving advice on theoretical things and the wall of post thing is just a bad part of my personality just having to explain things and type down everything I think. I don't think you're out of line either. He got the idea and I'm sure he's just as capable of seeing what is wrong with what I did as you guys are, which he has already given sign of, but he got the idea of what I was saying which is what I wanted.
It just comes off as really obnoxious and self assured when you have no reason to be - whether or not it's the case, I still don't think you should do it. No matter how sound your theoretical advice is. I don't think you should learn from people who can't put theory into practice, because a fundamental part of teaching is showing how to put theory into practice. Someone unable to do so will always have a flawed perspective of what they are teaching.

I think there are numerous problems still so i guess i just have to reference and study some more. It's also my 300th digital drawing wee.
Wow dude, not bad at all.
quick sketch based off ashley wood's robot work. supposed to be choosing one of the robots to do in 3D but i decided to do this first because painting is painting and i like painting
This is just frustrating. I keep trying to get better but if anything it seems like I'm getting worse. :c
