капиталисты не разгадают шифра [editline]24th October 2012[/editline] actually I said "comrade " in Russian because Jericho is Russian. Didn't know that fpmobile will turn it into some skynet talk
dude you're creeping me out
Book cover that I'm almost finished with. Just need to make some minor tweaks like bringing down the title so the "I" isn't so close to the top. I think it's much better than the older version I posted in the graphic design thread.
thanks for that link. The web site is very useful
Yeah, Matt Kohr is like super-cool.
dont judge me, boardface DONT JUDGE ME, BOARDFACE
has a rather suggestive shape but good work nonetheless

Good stuff. You gotta be more confident with the shading though. Make your darkest darks darker, that allows for a wider range of midtones and more detail overall.
Yeah dgg it up.
Something I free-handed during my printmaking class at my university.
Winding down from work. Also, very drowsy, sleepy, and sick.
Something I free-handed during my printmaking class at my university.
As opposed to... ?
As opposed to... ?
use of rulers and other line-making or measuring tools
I'm looking at the drawing, still don't get it
what isnt to get? it's a simple statement free-hand: adj, (esp. with reference to drawing) Done manually without the aid of instruments such as rulers.
what isnt to get?
Who uses a ruler to draw with, and why would anyone think that drawing was somehow tool-assisted
Who uses a ruler to draw with, and why would anyone think that drawing was somehow tool-assisted
architectural drawing, hardsurface drawing, i can think of loads of stuff where a ruler would be beneficial (and in the case of architectural drawing, pretty necessary). setting up perspective lines would call for a ruler (or some other straight edge) too. in context it just looks like a word he casually used, or maybe he could have been referring to not using a ruler on the straight lines in his pieces. nevertheless you're looking way too deep into this.
It's a pet peeve of mine I guess. [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] Well since I got a new page I might as well post something I haven't posted art of mine here in ages, but I think I'll start again before my current stuff goes cold and I don't feel like it's very relevant anymore. Colour
use of rulers and other line-making or measuring tools
Thank you, took the words off my keyboard. [editline]25th October 2012[/editline]
Who uses a ruler to draw with, and why would anyone think that drawing was somehow tool-assisted
The better question is, how can someone be this confused? It's a DOODLE. I made it during class, it's of a conceptual character that I designed, a gun that I also designed as well as a helicopter.
I always post my ugly shit right after someone's masterpiece whenever I put things in this thread. [t]http://i.imgur.com/iWby2.png[/t] Warning big image
I always post my ugly shit right after someone's masterpiece whenever I put things in this thread. [t]http://i.imgur.com/iWby2.png[/t] Warning big image
holy shit I like your shit a lot somehow it is atmospheric. Even being so bare and drained of details it is atmospheric to me. Maybe it's the colors and the good composition. Anyways: The guy's legs are too extended forward. To maintain balance with one of the legs extended like that he needs the other one to be slightly further backwards. No idea where that sword belt is going actually. Seems like it just disappears behind the blade. The neck might be a bit too long. Not sure tho. If you make the picture a bit wider (the desert part) to the right it will match the golden ratio.
Looks like an initial sketch? Get some lighting on that bad boy. The proportions and composition look good, Maybe move his back foot a little further behind him? Looks like he's going to fall backwards. flesh it out. Give us some visual story. Who is he? What's his deal? Add some more character details which explain this. Looks like a schoolboy with a sword right now. Definitely has potential to be cool! [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] Ninjas!

I'll fix the leg. Good thing I still have the .psd around. The sword is supposed to be against his left leg. The more I look at it the more it looks like it's between his legs, gonna fix that. As for the belt, it's supposed to be just above his right shoulder. And I don't really see what you mean by golden ratio ?

Your pic is very close to
Oh crap mathematics flee [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] More seriously I didn't know it was called the golden ratio, so when you mentioned it I thought you just meant the quantity of yellow in the picture, referring to the sand.
"The rule of thirds" is a much easier way to understand the golden ratio, without the mathematical jargon. Google it.
"The rule of thirds" is a much easier way to understand the golden ratio, without the mathematical jargon. Google it.
Yeah I agree. The golden ratio is a bit tough. I spent like 20 mins getting the idea. It's not that hard, it is just never simply explained.
If you want to get really nerdy with composition check this one out. http://www.thephoblographer.com/2011/04/08/an-introduction-to-golden-spiral-composition-method/
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fowZH.png[/t] Is this better ? [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] I understood the whole golden ratio thing. I just used to call it balance.
