TEEN DEER
I want to post my drawings in here so bad but I do them on my lunch breaks at work. Can't effectively take criticism if I don't have the time to set it in motion.
Another portrait of my friend who does make up modeling n stuff. Took the references myself back in Dubai a couple of weeks ago in preparation for a water color painting, originally intended to be done with graphite and water color, but I no longer have my supplies so I just did it digitally. Might do the water color version/oil painted version if I have the time/supplies.

The hair on the left looks kind of flat. Like the colours and rendering.

looks neat but there isn't a well defined light source, like the highlight's light seems to be coming from many diffrence places (well thats what it looks to me), that could be because thats what you wanted it to look like though
With a properly defined floor it'd look great
is there a right way to take it.

drawing pretty females all the time is ok, drawing pretty guys is not :I
im ok with it
thanks for the feedback guys, finally finished 90% of my homework for the next months..
hard to develope yourself when all you have to do is make shitty assignments that repeat the same obvious thing over n over again.
TEEN DEER
Yeah I was drawing different expressions and then all of the sudden "Teen Deer" swooped (or galloped, or trotted, or charged, or whatever deer do) upon my thoughts and I had to draw him. Admittedly I keep thinking about the character and wondering how you're going to do that, so I guess that's my way of saying I'm interested.
I don't know why I ended up drawing Teen Deer amongst tons of other faces after studying anatomy for about 10 hours straight, but I did.
hes a special guy

It's about as wide as a sheet of A3 paper. I call it pixeleyezed.

Interesting concept, I can see it being developed into something more and creating a very unique and interesting style if you keep experimenting with it and developing it. Maybe going a step further and adding pixelized depth and contours.
You've gone with a pixelised form but all of the lines and outlines destroy that by filling spaces that are less than one pixel wide. You don't get 'half pixels' (not really). The reason it doesn't look amazing is because you've got all these half-pixel-wide lines that break the otherwise pixelised image.

After my girlfriend fell asleep last night I couldn't sleep so I sat at her desk and on a scrap piece of paper did her a drawing that she got to see in the morning. I thought it was pretty sappy but still a fun drawing with limited supplies.

Not only was that really well done, but as a Leo I approve.
I actually really like the effect of the paper behind it sort-of bordering it. It creates a very interesting color scheme that contrasts the black-and-white, and is mundane yet pleasing. I'm guessing it wasn't intentional but I really like the effect.

Thanks! I like the border as well, and the lines through the paper. To me, a big part of the charm of it comes from what it was drawn on as well as what it was drawn with. I woke her up a few times when I was shading the background, she wasn't to happy about that. I'm sure she thought I was scratching away furniture designs or ridiculous environmental sketches for 3D work. She was very surprised.
Taking a break from my digital painting to brush up on my traditional, I am creating a base gray scale layer with acrylic and then will move onto an oil glaze to give it color. Sorry for shitty webcam qaulity, I will try to get a high def photo once done, about an hour of work so far.

I think we can manage to critique anything if you give us something. I, personally, would be happy to help. If all you have are sketches for the moment it should be enough.
How do you do this or that in this or that program?
- Similar to the previous one, I get this question a lot too. The problem here is not the question itself, it's the attitude towards learning - that itself is something you have to learn and work on. How do you think you'll find out how to do a specific thing quicker - by asking somebody and then waiting, or by using the program help file and the internet? If you're going to learn anything, not even just painting, it's always, ALWAYS going to be about your problem solving skills. THAT is what you have to work on, seriously it's important, because even if somebody tells you the solution to a certain problem, you will be stuck with the next one if you don't learn to solve them yourself. Even if it seems frustrating or hard!
wise words.

Ignore detlef then, you have nothing to prove and she's a cunt.
Also treat all your work like it's disposable, you have nothing to prove, nothing to lose and you can focus on the work.
