I actually prefer the first one. It's a neat idea how the word looks branded and the attention is clearly on the title.
The perfectly organized, photo realistic casings or whatever on the third one take away from the whole feel of it to me and the title is too subservient to the images.
I agree; the bullets are far too dominant and don't fit in compositionally at all
oh well then give me an other scenario (no agression)
I don't really want that exact thing so much, I will accept anything of sort. I just want such a scenario so much :(
Idk, some kind of informal rpg with X players participating at any one time and a queue for dead man's boots, players draw their own character sheets and keep a rough map updated between them, and the GM draws enemies/scenarios/whatever. GM switches between a few people who are capable/want to do it for a week at a time or something. Queued or dead players could have cameos as NPCs with vague direction in private from the GM, they provide art for the character obviously. And so on
The problem isn't the concept though imo, I just don't think a lot of people around here would be into it/have time to spare for it
Turns out it is photostudy week for me

Ahhhhh it seems really saturated
I'm quite uncomfortable with such wildly saturated painting with the bright blue and the green good lord

Also a reminder that if anybody is up for doing a collaborative painting with me where we pass the painting back and forth until it feels complete, hit me up
So would you be making a thread for that or doing it outside FP? I asked already I know but you're reminding and not threadmaking so I'm asking again :v:

Oh I thought I replied to your question, my bad!
I'd make a thread on FP, but I figured the thread would be solely for that particular collaborative project, therefore there wouldn't be a lot of point in doing it without a definite partner haha

Nice start! But I feel that the green is coming out too strong. I strongly suggest you watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ldbrJrdCn2Q#t=53s
(Please don't be offended if you already know this stuff and wanting such a contrast look and I'm sending you a beginner-tier videos, I'm just trying to do to others as I would want them to do to me  )
Anyway, here's my newest stuff (Or how you should sharpen your pencils every half a minute when you're drawing)
Half-dull pencils:

Nah I'd say a general collab thread for people to find people to start/discuss any collabs would work out better and have more purpose than a thread for a single project, and I think that's what Mako was meaning too.

I tried using SFM to pose some russkies and used a guys drawing as the background.
Did I succeed in editing this sort of comic book look?

You just took someone elses art and slapped some 3D models from SFM in the foreground. Can't really say you achieved anything.
Once upon a time, in a land blanketed by the colors of eternal autumn, there was a tiny little village.
And in this tiny little village, just across the old rope bridge and two lefts from the old maple tree stood a tiny little kitchen.
And in this tiny little kitchen, curled up on a sack of potatoes, slept a tiny little cook.
Maybe we would be giving her too much credit calling her a cook, so perhaps we could call her a trainee. A cadet of confections. A protege of pastries! Her father would appreciate this one the most; it was his life's goal to pass on his knowledge of all things edible to his wonderful little daughter. It was their food-focused heritage that had inspired her name after all;from the first time he had cradled her in his arms, The Chef had known Little Redcorn was the most apt title of all. Normally he would've raised a ruckus at her laying about on the job if he wasn't preoccupied with a dangerous amount of potato salad. And so Redcorn slept on, atop her pile of potatoes.
At least for a good minute or so.
An unceremonious chorus of whacks rattled the walls of the pantry. Little Redcorn jumped, smacking her head against several pots and pans.
"You are the WORST adventuring consultant, you know that?"
"Gimme a sec" she mumbled, brushing some dark tangles out of her face. Easing a sore spot on her noggin, she slipped out of the shack and into the afternoon air.
There stood the adventurer in question, a small lad with a strikingly not-small pair of pants. This unfortunate attire, perhaps the single rule enforced by his normally lax parents, had lead to a similarly unfortunate nickname among his peers. Thusly, Britches carried himselfin a manner normally held for the most utmost daring. For compensation's sake, of course. He stood with hands on his hips and tried his hardest to stare down his consultant.
Little Redcorn found this rather easy to counter, as she was an inch taller.
"I don't want to see that look, okay? It was a bad morning." She nodded wearily at the door that lead to the kitchen. "I don't want to see a potato ever again."
She trudged towards the house. Britches tried stamping a foot in impatience, then gave up shortly and followed after her.
"Doesn't sound so bad. I could take on a few piles." He tried for a flex of his apparent muscles, which Little Redcorn promptly ignored. Before they got to the door she whipped around and put a finger to her lips, the universal symbol of silence. Britches nodded importantly.
The two snuck into the back reaches of the kitchen. Redcorn's father paced along the other end of the kitchen, carrying his portly frame from counter to counter in the shadow of an towering pile of mashed potatoes. The perfect distraction. The pair snuck into the next room, where Britches gave an almost audible gasp of fear. Before his eyes stretched a wasteland of potato shreddings, littering the ground as far as the eye could see. Little Redcorn looked at her cohort with a dangerous gleam in her eye, and gestured at the destruction.
"Yeah, you can take it. Come on big man, want to go on an adventure? Lets switch jobs for a while, I bet you can take potato duties like a CHAMP."
Britches said he was fine, thank you.
The two made their escape from the depths of the kitchen, Redcorn's knapsack in hand. The Chef thought he heard a door slam, but promptly went back to humming a ditty about the joys of sour cream.
I want to write a kids/all-ages story
any crits on my writing style before I continue
So my film got into the finals of the Aniwow2012 animation festival in China... can't publicly post it right now but when the festival is over I'll share it with you guys. Just wanted to share the good news :D

What programms do you use for digital painting guys?
[editline]30th October 2012[/editline]
I don't know which one to work with using my tablet :(
PS, Coler Painter or Art Rage?
I use photoshop. Could never really get the hang of any of the other programs (Corel Painter, I'm looking at you), plus it's just really a versatile program
Artrage is said to have real color blending and stuff.
So I am confused. I used to paint with photoshop but I remember that ugly issue with CS5 where you would start drawing a line at a point and the program would just connect the start point and the end point wiith a straight line.
Also used sketchbook pro, but didn't like it too much.

Please help me with the drawing software
Please help me with the drawing software
Just start working with something... The drawing software is not what's going to make you improve. You actually need to do stuff and it doesn't matter what you use. Nitpicking the software comes later. I suggest sticking with Photoshop.

I did work with photoshop and, as I said, had issues. It might be good, but there are so many programs and I am wondering if I could save a lot of time/learn new techniques when using something more drawing-oriented

I don't really know where you're at but you can still learn a bunch just by using pencils and paper.

I agree, it's definitely a lot less yellow than it should be! I was using my secondary CRT to hold the reference and it's is a bit colder than my LCD. Hopefully when I have the time (and patience!) I can calibrate them somewhat.

Try paint tool sai, really easy to use. Photoshop is much more versatile though.

It sounds like your problems with photoshop are more due to not quite understanding how each tool works
Look up a couple of quick tutorials and whatnot or just experiment with the brush tool and see what happens
I used to feel Photoshop was far too stiff for painting, but once I got the hang of custom brushes and the shortcut keys it got a lot better
guidance. give.

I think the beard and hair doesn't have the cross hatching everything else has; in fact, the beard doesn't have much texture to it at all.
Pick a light source and draw the shadows.

I use Painter. It's hit and miss. I much prefer painting in it to using PS, but I've found a load of insta-crash bugs in it. And the UI takes a deal of getting used to (still prefer it to adobe's UI work though)
I do recommend it but you'll have to be patient as it's quite a learning curve. Pretty much everyone who tries it says they have problems using it, a lot of that is probably due to being accustomed to PS or something else
