kawaiiiiiii i love influenza ^____^ [editline]9th November 2012[/editline] quick study + some extra bits on it
Amazingly cool. Although the sky might be a bit too big. I mean some of it at the top is sure wasted space (I might be hella wrong) [editline]9th November 2012[/editline] That's what I am aiming to be able to draw. For you it's a quick study and for me it's probably all I want from my art skills.

Just saying.
Here's some random calligraphy I did this afternoon. I was venturing through different styles I imagined just for fun.

Try mixing you paints with water or some other kind of thinner. You have that signature 'My paint is drying to fast to blend layers' look :v:
Here's some random calligraphy I did this afternoon. So I did this in my Visual Communications class. It took me about 6 class periods, and I'm a novice at Photoshop. What do you guys think? :D
Said I wouldn't finish it - I lied. Part painting, part photocomp. Thoughts?
Have I ever told you how much I love your calligraphy?
Thank you! I'm very glad that you like it! I appreciate the kind words.

another one
You should try using a higher opacity and keep the brush at 100% hardness. Also you should always do a sketch first. There's no point in speedpainting if your proportions and shapes are off in your drawing.
The blurry parts are an attempt at DoF at I said, I wouldn't leave parts like that usually. I disagree about the sketch, painting in straight colour is something I want to experiment with more. It'll take a little readjustment of process to get representation right with no sketch, but everything has its learning curve.
Or at least fix it at the end. Flip it, rotate it, etc. to see what's wrong with it if you can't tell. It looks very distorted.
This is something I should've done. Mixture of being lazy and wanting to keep the time spent on it minimal. Wasn't gonna spend a second hour on it :/ I will try again!

The problem with that is that you're not working with the entire environment but rather individual shapes, or in some cases even just shifts in brightness because you're working off a 2D reference. I find it more helpful to first sketch out what I'm doing to get an idea of the placement and perspective, then to do a rough shadows/ highlights layer over it to get an idea of the shapes and form and the basic colors of the environment, and then to do the detail and refining and coloring. I guess working from small portions of the image and starting out detailed works for some people but I find it too frustrating and lacking control of the overall image, especially if I'm trying to take things like composition into consideration. But either way, whatever works for you to help develop your style and/ or ability.
Had some spare time this afternoon; just did a quick one. Haven't had time to check the contrasts and whatnot but I think it's a bit lacking in contrast. I might go back and dodge the foreground up a bit later if I have a chance. Recorded it too; I'll put a timelapse up later [editline]10th November 2012[/editline] orange flags are neato
I'm getting kind of tired of working on this for the moment, but I got off my lazy ass and finally started coloring this. [t]http://i.imgur.com/I1GBY.jpg[/t] I thought I'd post my progress and ask for advice, if any of you have any, before I'm finished and I don't feel like going back and redoing something.
I finally made a DeviantArt account a few weeks back. It's mostly written stuff, since that's mostly what I do, but there's the occasional doodle or "goofy shit I made in MSPaint" thing too. So yeah, if anyone wants to check it out, I just uploaded my second trilogy of scary short stories for Halloween (a little late since Sandy kept me offline for a while). Can anyone tell me anything about my shit hallway? I mean it's not that hard to tell me how shading should be done and give me a hand on texturing :(

This has a nice palette, and the brush strokes feel less sloppy while still feeling painterly. It's good!

Then youll know where the shadows hit and itll actually make sense. Also, it feels incomplete. Some more buildings and details would be nice

I think taking the time to look at other concept art pieces and get a sense of what is 'standard' in terms of landscape design and composition, as well as getting a feel for how to construct surfaces is helping, as well as not over-thinking things like lighting and allowing myself to 'just paint' while going back and fixing stuff later on is helping. Recording myself also helps, I feel; it gives a sense of 'being watched' without the feeling of 'if I mess up I'll look like a dick', which allows us to experience that pleasurable feeling of people seeing us paint while removing the fear of being judged if we fail.
Who ever said that low opacity brushes look bad. [t]http://s11.postimage.org/l48xll29v/apple.png[/t] Oh how I beg to differ.

Ok facepunch. Nobody gave a shit about my last drwing of a hallway. Nobody gave me help when I needed it. Not even dumb ratings, really. There are two reasons to that: either my work wasn't good enough for you to stop scrolling the page or you just want to make me mad. Nobody told me how to do crap without textures and custom brushes. So I took the easy road. Please take a minute of your precious time and tell me why it sucks. [editline]10th November 2012[/editline] From reference.

So less opacity more color variation? Looks like my art teacher has been teaching us the wrong way.
So less opacity more color variation? Looks like my art teacher has been teaching us the wrong way.
Just less opacity.
A girl I know wants me to take pictures of her and photoshop them to make a cool profile picture for her on facebook so I decided that I'd practice a bit based upon what she wanted. Just messing around and getting a feel for what she wants as well as what looks good. Not entirely satisfied yet but I'm getting there! Critique would be appreciated [img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6092109/after.png[/img_thumb] Link to the before picture: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6092109/before.png I just took some picture off of /r/gentlemanboners and a stock picture from deviantart and see what I could come up with
Dumping some architecture in this shit, since this thread is 90% digital drawing. Im building a model of a flowershop thats gonna stay by a church. Had to demonstrate the use of bricks etc. etc. This took like, days. [t]http://i.imgur.com/OzGfT.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/NkarC.jpg[/t]
