Here, have some practice shit.

It's supposed to be M. C. Escher's "Eye", which I've displayed below, minus the skull. It's not finished, but I'm proud of it because I've hardly ever touched charcoal.

Man, I still need to work on that eyelid. It looks way too... foldy. Whatever that means.
Anyway, I did this because I wanted to practice drawing an eye. That is all.
Here's a newer version.

Eyelids are still weird.
To people who can't read, the actually good one in the quote is by M. C. Escher, not me. Unless the four people who rated me Artistic actually did read. Then I'm pleased.
Also, I'm done with that gift thingy.

I just made a few minor adjustments, is all.

The first one is really cool, I like it!
The second one has a cool concept, but it's way too flat. More contrast yo.

Mmm, I'd argue the second one is fine depth-wise, considering there are some very flat valleys out in the southwest.

more face studies

he was talkin bout value contrast not literal terrain forms

A little tank/vehicle concept I made while practicing perspective. I wanted it to be quite fun/compact while still believable.

and drive around and kill people

Thanks, and yea, the depth is lacking, I was focusing on correct color picking mainly.
One last quick 'scape
Just realised I missed posting something last page, I am bad at this.
Since everyone else does landscapey stuff, I thought it was time I tried, since I have neglected to do anything like that up to this point. Here's my warmup thumbed (yeah I regret using that shitty chalk brush or whatever it was):

Note, I started out with a little mage guy sitting on the tree with a fishing rod, but he was fucking everything up so I painted him out. That is why it's not particularly interesting
The forest thing lacks a sense of depth, maybe make the faraway trees in lighter and more desaturated colour to simulate atmospheric fog.

Perspective on the cliff is weird, the landscape is looked down upon but the cliff (higher) is even more so.

I disagree; not all ground is horizontal

Starting to practice coloring, it is p hard. I think I need to study values wayyy more.

Yeah the depth of the bg is pretty ambiguous.
But what of Maloof's revelation that you shouldn't just use a more saturated foreground to convey depth?
I am interested in what anyone has to say on the topic cause it's all fairly foreign to me
I think the depth in that image is rendered accurately; it looks to me like some sort of mossy or plant-covered bank that sits about 5m from the viewer
It just needs to be rendered out a bit more clearly
And remember that you don't have to have a huge contrast in physical depth as well; not every image has to show things up to the horizon

Well, took a shot. You don't have to use it.

Left room for info at the top, if you like I can adjust it so that the gap is at the bottom (the text would be on black instead of on colour then)
Here's the city logo with transparency, so you can place that in photoshop wherever you like.
And if anyone else wants to grab this and makes changes to it, improve the colours or whatever, go nuts I don't mind.
if yall gangsters are ever short of reference photos of if you're concerned about copyrights and whatnot, Flickr has a great creative commons section
