you have the mouth and lipsync all wrong
unless you're not trying to emulate ego's style or the original?
I have only made the lip movement for "Hey I'm Grump" and I haven't synced it up yet as I haven't thrown in any audio. Which is why Arin is both of them because I haven't made Jon yet.
Oh and if by emulate you mean copy, then no, I'm making it into my own, which is for example why I shaded him and gave him a double chin thing as well as changing his hair to be more reminiscient of his downfalling real hair.

I made a seahorse/parrot hybrid.
So I tried to improve the mountain thing I did earlier. Didn't have time to do it earlier, and don't have time to do the whole pic.

still not even close to the "flowing" effect I wanted. I used brushes with pressure transfer control.

definitely better though

hey guys, remember my deer?
Im thinking about redoing it. In a more "poster-format" than a tshirt thing. Which would be mostly drawing and less photo, although I do feel that I should get some photo in there.
Anyway, should I redo it? or is it good for a poster?
Im also thinking about redoing my other stuff, since its not being used anywhere now, but Ill get to that later
I like where it ended up, might even buy the shirt (or a few, I know some people who'd kill for it). I couldn't tell you where to go with it from here though. If you're making a huge poster, I'd expect maybe something to make use of the white space, even if it's just more split patterns or something. Make it so that the splits work with it to create a 3D scene if you were to wear r/b glasses maybe?

use long thin flat brushes ~~30degrees tilt ish (although I like the system in MyPaint in which the flat brush eventually orientates to whichever way you move the mouse)
When studying colors, do you guys guesstimate or do you use color picker?
The point of color studies are to help you learn how shadows and highlights effect the colors, saturation, and luminosity of different objects. You should get to the point where you don't need a color picker, but that might be helpful in the beginning in order to understand hue and saturation shifts. I found that pixel art was more helpful than anything I've studied in order to help me understand color theory.

The large heavily textured brushwork used for most of the piece clashes rather badly with the clear cut relief of that railing and particularly the sign and the text on it. Looks out of place and my eye is drawn into that corner again and again. Those rusty beiges/orange are pretty unpleasent creeping into the nice cool palette of the rest of the work. I'm not really feeling any heat from them either, just ugly.
On the other hand the sense of depth is good, and the rendering on the platform under the ship is very nice and metallic.
And it almost goes without saying at this stage but the shoddy figure spoils the piece to a degree.
Overall though shows great progress. Also I like the space shuttle looking ship. The fire is super half-assed having said that :v:

It's very awesome, but I would like to point out a small thing.
The glow in the engine looks like the center of it is not in the center of the engine, In that perspective the glow would be much more visible and close to the center I think.

Have a city ontop of a screw thing. That concept is that the city module can me transported to other planets/places, screwed in and remain there, then screwed out when needed.
Sorry for my shitty phone camera.
And yeah I know that the carvings don't match. My bad.

no i mean the mouth drawing
it looks weird and not great
(shading doesnt really fit either)
so uh, question
is 17 y/o too late to "seriously" learn drawing, like take courses or someshit
I'd really love to draw (as a hobby and maybe if I turned out to be decent at it something more, I guess?) and digital paint (like, texture work and stuff) and stuff like that, but I feel like it'd be a waste if I started this late.

man I only started seriously learning when I went to uni to do my art course at 18. I'd done a bunch of mapping for HL2 and 3d stuff in Blender but most of my drawing/painting was just line drawing
[editline]28th November 2012[/editline]
I didn't even take art in high school so I don't think it's too late

I'm almost 21 and I'm "just" getting into drawing.
If you practice hard you will be miles ahead of where I am right now when you are 20.
