i hope you understood half of that lol
Thanks! Yeah composition was tricky for that one; I was gonna have a figure standing in there somewhere to give a clearer focus but I'm still not too hot on anatomy so I scrapped it I can't really take credit for the ice-tomb idea though - it's down to the guy that gave me the job haha Now you mention it I agree that the distant town should be much bluer The second image isn't really a sequel - just a different take on the concept that sticks a bit closer to the original brief the guy gave me Mako why you always gotta interrupt golly gosh man
also i'm not getting too much sense of scale on the town. it's big, i get that. but if you added something to help keeping the scale going like a bridge to it or windows/doors i'd be able to understand how gigantic it's supposed to be.
Oh I put windows in but there's not enough contrast to be able to pick them out When I bluify it I'll darken them up a little bit
for the 2nd one... to give the tombs a really desolate feel, why not make the rocks spikier? maybe make the bridges broken and frosty too, that way it really tells a story and makes the whole atmosphere eerier. [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] god damn we keep taking up the whole page. [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] you have loooong long shadows going on for the 2nd one and that makes it a bit creepy so good job with that! [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] actually, for the second one you have the POV going like this: http://gyazo.com/b8c3eb4a2971983e9c2828f6793c2dd7.png?1354674682 it'd look a lot more interesting, unsettling and you'd get a better sense of scale for the rock formations if you had it going like this: http://gyazo.com/4fa368131b5c1b286ae5e37139174a23.png?1354674701 [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] or this: http://gyazo.com/40213c4193df23c23bf893444c25fd50 [editline]5th December 2012[/editline] on the last example you could probably show the bridge as the center piece and have the ice tombs repeated up to the top of the rock formations, that way it'd really guide the viewer up to the bridge.

sorry i'm brainstorming so much!
I think the second piece commands more attention than the first, I really like the composition. The bridge and its supports are really nice and dynamic. Colours throughout are pretty much spot on. I don't know if it's over a plain or if they're supposed to be sea stacks on a frozen sea? Because the latter is a fantastic concept, real chilly inspiring. Issues I have with it are the shadows, they feel really smooth and opaque as opposed to looking like shadows on the snow. They're also lighter then the masses creating the shadows, even at the very base where you should have the darkest values. Also the two leading figures on the bridge look big and strange, and are they carrying an ice sarcophagus? It looks like it but it's all very flat and misshapen there. It's a small detail but I take it that's the narrative focus of the piece, so..

The heavy purple in that lower right corner is a bit nasty too. I think some smooth blending with the shadows would help a lot
So I went to a local college cause they have free figure drawing classes ever monday and it was my first time doing figure drawing. I gotta do more I didn't realize how much I sucked at drawing people (yes i did)

Nice drawings.
free figure drawing classes? Wow I gotta do some digging

It's a good start, keep at it.

What does 's' mean? Are you literally supposed to do these in 15 seconds?
bluh I haven't used this tablet in weeks I know it looks like five second shit but it really isn't ;n;
What does 's' mean? Are you literally supposed to do these in 15 seconds?
Yes You train yourself to focus on form and figure, you don't have time to add details, so you've got to learn how to handle your strokes to get the shapes you need in one swift motion.

I seriously doubt he did half of them in two or five second bursts
Just messin around

It's a work in progress, I still gotta add a bunch of detail and also contrast between the different sections of the near tower. It's skybox concept art for a CSGO map I plan on making, set in one of these abandoned, overgrown, miles-tall towers. Drawn in Flash.
free figure drawing classes? Wow I gotta do some digging
It's not really a class, it's like an afterschool session I guess, there's no teacher or anything, they just have a model for 3 hours and anyone can come. Also the s is for study, not seconds lol. Like 2 minute study.

I want to post a video i made for a school project but it has identifiers (my name, my face) in it :L
I can't talk for most of us but I don't mind seeing your ugly mug and I definitely wontâ„¢ come and kill you.
My first charcoal drawing! Not entirely happy with it seeing as there are lot of perspective mistakes (mostly due to the fact that the still-life was moved around a lot during the drawing period), but I'm generally satisfied with how it looks and I learned a lot from it. (and i've got something to post now which is also rad) Also, how am I supposed to get detailed textures on paper such as rust on metal and tiny bumps on wrinkly fruit?
i never post in this thread but whatever 0 to bronson in 60 minutes i know i fucked the glasses up, but anything else i could do to improve?
