what pens would you use?
im using one of those uniballs, but whenever i go over it with stuff it gets everywhere and makes unwanted stuff black/darker

A majority vote from the entire board is needed for these kind of situations. This is outrageous Mako.
I would take it as a personal insult but I'm just worried about our shareholders
Hey guys, I'm making a logo for a web series. what do you think?

The last week or so I've been opening stuff in photoshop, doodling for 10 minutes, erasing everything, and starting over completely
What do I do to consistently take ideas from start to finish

Free is way too dark, I had to look hard to read it, especially with the huge contrast with the blue fall.

How do you get such precise lines? Are they hand-drawn or done with the pen tool?
I want to do some Feng Zhu-style line drawings for spaceships and whatnot but even with a reasonably sized tablet I find it very hard to get anything smooth and precise
Hand-drawn, it was really tedious. It looks smooth mostly because the original over 6 times that size.
I don't really see any benefits to that style, it looks tedious as well. Loose and flowing and sketchy gives you so much more movement and vitality

As Feng mentioned the only way to get good linedrawings is to draw for many many years, it's the one thing an artist can't rush.
Or draw really much every day, I guess that could do the trick.

Having it so smooth makes it look like the kind of picture you would find in a colouring book. It makes it feel like it has less personality. Also the weight of the lines on the legs is a bit too heavy compared to the torso, it looks a little odd.

Oop, didn't see that you were working on colouring it. Looks like it will be a lot nicer when you are done. The hands seem a little big to me though.

finite linework on a large scale is pretty cool if you ask me
though I agree having nothing but fine lines and no color/shading is very flat and a little hard on the eyes, but it's worth the process because the coloring end-result is usually kickass
From the carpentry course I just completed(cell phone camera's the only camera I own, sorry)

Used a router; for the finer lines I had to manually lift and lower it while it was running, which is why some of the lettering is fucked up. Then stained it, sanded off a bit of the top layer. Design is my own little doodle, as opposed to the school and football logos others did.
The front view looks like he's carrying a barrel to me, but I really like the style. Just try to clean a few areas up and avoid making things really dark like they are.
I like it Talkbox, especially the second bit, but the first seems a bit... flat, and kinda muddy I think.
Thanks for the crit guys

wow well now I'm less impressed you should really give your sources for that sort of thing Chaplin
Would someone here be willing to do me a huge favour? A friend of mine has her birthday coming up soon, and I was hoping one of you artistic geniuses could whip up something relatively simple for me.
Pretty much just a picture of a female egg (I know, it sounds ridiculous) with a little red bowtie in her hair, and then a male egg beside her with a stethoscope in his hands. If anyone could do this for me, it'd mean the world. I'm hoping to print it out in card-format for her birthday card.
If you're interested in helping me out, PM me so I can send you a few photos for reference :v:
I'd even be willing to throw $5 or $10 into your PayPal for doing this for me.
PS: It's an inside joke between us (the eggs), and I know it'd mean so much to her. I just can't draw for shit, and I think it'd make a great card for her.
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
