The knee thing looks a bit odd - perhaps more of a rise and fall in the shoulders to give the impression of breathing?
I'll see your "fire hazard" and raise you one "masking tape," RAs.
Fifth drawing of mine. Just a random character I designed, some sort of mage with a robot skull head .I know it's not all that original. I'd hugely appreciate any C&C. [t]http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/345/6/a/mage_by_menace0403-d5npicd.jpg[/t]
Steer clear of soft-edged or transparent brushes while you're learning
Did some quick studies of tigers for a poster I was working on. Too bad these turned out better than the poster. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/ESIuLH.png[/t]
I hate when that happens. You sketch something up, it looks great, but when you try to recreate it on a more serious project it just doesnt feel the same. Almost like it lost its spark.
Today's warm-up. 30 min speedpaint of goblin.

Photo study [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/LSTLJH.png[/t] Low quality phone photo of oil paint melon still life. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/H4DT1S.png[/t]
Hey everyone, first time posting in this thread because I've finally got some time to use my tablet wooo! Anyway I used my need for a fb cover photo to draw this:
Jealously guarding a huge pile of wet sponges [editline]11th December 2012[/editline] It's really ambitious, and trying to figure out how dragon anatomy should go can be hard as fuck, I know from recent sketching. There are a lot of things amiss with it but it's impressive that you finished it. I suggest drilling the fundamentals and doing a lot more studies though, it takes a lot to be ready for an unreferenced scene like this. [editline]11th December 2012[/editline]
Kinda sketchy mockup village
I'm ashamed to say I kind of buzzed past this initially because it was so small, but I just saw it had 19 artistics so took a closer look - the atmosphere is actually pretty amazing. Looking at the roof of the building in particular, I feel like I'm breathing in the cold fresh air from that place, I can feel the calm of the time of day. The trees on the ridge are a bit green and flat and I lose the sense of distance from them, but other than that it's just gorgeous. *applause*

Having fun with some awesome brushes I downloaded Brushes if you're interested: http://www.shaddyconceptart.com/download
does anybody have any brush recommendations for GIMP? I've been using the default ones and I've been finding them pretty restricting. Or should I just get Photoshop instead?
little study I did today

I dig this. maybe add some bobbing in addition to the rotating/forward movement so it's a little more dynamic. right now with it not having any other movement it feels a little bit stiff. also, the legs are underwhelming compared to the rest of the design and i don't feel they fit being brighter than the rest of it.
I recently saw a really cool 2001: Space odyssey painting someone on the internet did, but I couldn't find it again. So from memory I sketched up this, I want to paint this on a larger canvas but I'm really bad at choosing colors and admittatley at painting aswell. Can some one direct me with some colors to use for the suit, jupiter, the ground, and the style of the monolith? - The monolith in the painting I saw had like stars and galaxies pouring out in front of the astronaut(which was awesome), I wouldn't even know how to do that) - I'm using a HS art room's paints - Going for a dave bowman orange for the suit I'm not asking for someone to paint this for me, just lend insight on the colors I should use.
