Pretty much.
I tried to make DA whore material as an expiriment but it got like 4 views, so I guess I should have included some ponies or something.
Added on the oil layer to give it color, I can't get a really decent picture because it is still wet and the light from the webcam makes a big reflection.

One time I was drawing and tried to (insert shortcut) my document and it was at least twelve years before I realised it was a piece of paper
beat that

Ahaha
Nevermind, I guess it is too late

In my advanced art class in high school we made clay bowls and colored in pinwheels. I think you might just possibly have a better Art Program than we did. I'm liking it though. I normally reverse-glass paint when I do end up painting, so the concept of what you're doing is pretty foreign to me.

No. While I was doing this, my class was assigned to cut out magazine images and make a collage out of them. I simply do not listen and work on what I know will benefit my portfolio as our "art teacher" went to a college for interior design. She will literally walk around the classroom while we are doing water color and will spray our work with a spray bottle or drop salt on it saying it adds to the "unpredictability of art".
Furthermore she repeatedly tells us it is college level, then precedes to put us in assigned seats and will demand for us not to speak. Not to mention she is extremely disorganized and will move your work and lose it, which happened to me with a water color I had quite liked.
That class is a joke and the only reason I stay in it is for the AP art exam at the end which could get me possible scholarships and other benefits.

Hmm... We have a similar experience then. Except my teacher would never touch our work (why would your teacher ever do that?), and she was more of an "art history" person. I can honestly say that I learned a lot of art history from her.
[editline]February 23 2012[/editline]
To be fair, during the first year of art school they assume that you don't know much about art when you start anyway, at least where I went (I was going to a 2-year school before going to a bigger college, but my schedule got messed up so I have to wait until Fall). There was such a huge disparity in skill-level in my drawing classes it was ridiculous.

Mine does not know art history and has no idea what she is doing.
We have two other very skilled art teachers who I love, but because this lady has been in the school longer, she is given complete control of the AP and IB programs.
She in my opinion is way too design oriented so we end up doing pieces that are completely abstract and often completely limit us. She will give us an extremely large brush and make us stand at least 4 feet from the paper, which would be ok if it wasnt a piece of printer paper and acrylic paint.
Or the time we had blind fold ourselves and grab three random pastels and swirl our arms to the beat of the music. We did that for 4 days. We need 12 advanced pieces done for the AP exam and were doing things like that.
i saw an otter today as I rushed down to the waterside to check out on what I originally thought was a stray dog fighting the waves
so i felt like drawing some :)

My Great-Grandfather raised otters and trained them (he also had a pet fox and at one point was keeping a captured bobcat in his garage. He did it legally because he had a permit to.), they're amazingly intelligent animals. If you want to learn to draw them a bit more accurately, I would have shrunken the eyes and the nose a bit.

Even baby ones have characteristically small eyes.

Hit me up with a better quality scan of that painting when it's complete, I'd like to give it a critique.
As for now I just had time for a couple of critiques that I've been meaning to quickly get off.. Also trying out something different to prevent page stretching. Giver time to load :)

It was on accident, but theyre both from the 30's, or were popular in the 30's anyway.

The drawing and design class that I'm currently doing actually seems pretty nice. The teacher is a pretty successful painter in the area and does a lot of portraits for people. Also we're actually getting into really detailed stuff as of now. We're going to move on from simple still life soon and jump headfirst into figure drawing.
Haven't fixed the hand rails yet, but I will!
Got the boat done, and I'm working on the rope... which turns out to be a pain in the neck >.>

Default brush with pressure all the way, didn't not use any stock pattern/brush.
look ur pretty good at texturing shit but everything u draw feels flat, and is also very boring to look at. its like a scenery shot/pinup, except not visually interesting. you know what i mean? like everything's just there, the subject matter is just a boring lady and stuff. i don't mean that in a mean way. theres some technical skill there but not so much the artistry skill. it doesn't make me want to look at it.
while it's not as bad to me I can definitely see there's some weird lack of depth going on.

You're right, everything is very well rendered but the composition isn't very engaging or dynamic.
I've been trying to do dynamic motions, but I just can't get good references :s
I have to agree that my scenes are all static.
I was trying to draw a watermelon eating competition actually, but couldn't get the atmosphere to feel right.
I think I'll polish up my static scene first, then I'll march towards dynamic scene, and hopefully that will make my work more interesting.

[sp]To be honest, I am just feeling depressed recently due to some issues, so I just draw something that is soothing.
I want to be at a beach with almost no additional object, where I can just stare at the sky and relax.
Live in the world with no worry. Fish when I'm hungry, and sleep when I'm tired. Run along the shoreline to chase the sunset...
I'm just drawing out what I have in my mind one by one.[/sp]
btw that wood way thing that the girl is sitting on is out of perspective

Yeah, will have to update it with the hand rails.

Maybe try drawing some dynamic looking landscapes at eye-level, and only afterwards think about how to place a character in the piece
I love the boat/rope/wood by the way. The girl is wonderful too. She's drawn without reference, right?

You always use the exact same colour palette. Are you doing a series or are you just stuck to it?
Challenge yourself and do something you aren't comfortable with.
