Haven't fixed the hand rails yet, but I will! Got the boat done, and I'm working on the rope... which turns out to be a pain in the neck >.> Default brush with pressure all the way, didn't not use any stock pattern/brush.
without critiquing the subject matter, The way you fine render small parts of the piece finished before you move on is a really bad technique, it makes your work progress slow, you should at least lay in the base colours and stuff before moving on. This is to see if the values and colours works for your picture as a whole, then after you have set all that up you can basically mindlessly render, I don't think anyone would recommend the work progress you have now and that it might even be why it looks kinda flat and boring. [editline]24th February 2012[/editline] One rule I have for myself is that the picture should be readable in the thumbnail in like the first 10 min of laying in the colours.
Another thing to consider even though it may not be your style and not everyone wants to emulate a concept art style. But I've heard many times that if you render out everything to a perfect detail it actually creates a very boring image. Insinuating that things are present even though you don't render them perfectly may make for a better image (and save a shit ton of time!).

Holy shit i'm gold?! Time to paint a new avatar!!
Here's a heavy WIP of my first ever digital drawing. Using a mouse seems very awkward, since I am a lefty. Anyway, CC appreciated.

I only very recently actually understood how to use Ableton live so I've been experimenting with a few different kinds of music. Any feedback would be cool. Drum N' Bass Attempt: Dubstep-sample-thing? Also made a creepy soundtrack sort of thing for a film I'm working on in school.
I know it might be based on taste, but that drum and base thingy was really too fast also, the creepy soundtrack doesnt really come off as creepy, generally creepy things are more staccato, try making a "regular" tune and then breaking it apart

roughly colored everything. anaotmy and perspective of dock/hand rail are still pending lol -EDIT- MOVED TO HERE http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1166032?p=34850861#post34850861
it really doesn't have anything to focus on. i'm sorry but dude, it feels way too busy. you don't really distinguish foreground and background, and that makes it really flat. the perspective doesn't help either, the bridge is a mess! i'm sorry if i sounded harsh, but dude, i'm being honest.
how can you say anatomy and perspective are pending when you're already so far in the process? I mean, I don't digital paint, I just paint the traditional way, so maybe you can change everything just like that
maya maybe you should make a sketchbook, as much as i like seeing progress i think i can recreate every picture you draw from memory by now

it goes into it ~7 times, I think I made her torso too thin
Finally managed to get pictures of my work Oil pastel over a graphite self-portrait I did. Also, I remember I posted the original in one of the CWTDDAT's but I can't find it. If anyone remembers where that is I'd be really grateful And a cubism self portrait
don't wanna finish this one
arms are too short
neat cubist drawing but, I think the colour difference between the colours is too strong, as in blue and dark brown/black rather than having harmonies with strong contrast [editline]24th February 2012[/editline]
And a cubism self portrait

And a cubism self portrait
That is really good. How did you come up with the design? I could never do that or even begin to visualize it.
That is really good. How did you come up with the design? I could never do that or even begin to visualize it.
Cubism is actually pretty simple, you focus on the basic shapes of any form and create visual rhythm using patterns and repetition. I feel like this works best with musical themes because I tend to think of cubism as the blues or jazz of the art world. But I'm just odd like that.
I know it's a long shot and this probably isn't the place for requests but would anybody like to have a go at colouring this imperial guard? It doesn't have to be great or anything fancy something like these guys minus the red patches
diy?
Maybe he doesn't have the means to colour it himself? Neither digitally or traditionally.
