It could use more contrast.
Every time I draw something, I hear my art teachers going "Don't be afraid to really get in there and push those values" or "It needs more contrast"
please tell me what you mean.
silly replies to work

Well if you want one serious piece of advice, paint with shadows not with highlights. The whole leftside of the figure is painted by highlights so it flattens the piece plus desaturates it. Look at the photo you posted of the pilots and look how their suit reacts to light and try to emulate that. If you look they do not have strong highlights but are very smooth and dull.
1 hourish

I like the dynamic composition
Trying to draw at least one picture every day, this one ended kinda bad imo. Probably never going to continue on it.

Reminds me of those old early 90's renders for some reason.
oh god that is sick nasty booty
Oh man, I tried to draw an apple that I had eaten.
I couldn't really work out how to draw the texture of the inside of the apple.
[thumb]http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g261/I_Forgot_fro/Applecontrast.jpg[/thumb]
and this was the first version, before I added more contrast and fiddled with it some.

The bold ink outline was a bad decision.
I was "in the zone," working on a master study for homework. I was sketching and erasing and paying so little attention to what I was doing, outside of what was on my paper, that I accidentally dropped my eraser into my bowl of chilli instead of my art box.

The question is, why would you have one of the messiest foods known to man next to your art?
it is when you're sat down in a plane
modern day pilots have maps in a transparent plastic pocket on their thighs

although thinking about it now i should have put it on the right thigh because the left hand is usually used to control the throttle
I've never flown a jet or spaceship, but when I was in my little Cessna, I'd always balance my charts and checklists and whatnot on my right thigh. Myeft hand stayed on the yolk, and right hand was on the throttle/mixture, so my right right thigh was easier to see.

It was from earlier, I'm just a messy person! I'll put it in the dish washer now, though, I swear.
I'm getting a real Lego vibe here, maybe you should round the chin a little bit more?
Originally it was round, if you ever saw the first version I posted a while back, but these are changes my friend wanted. And the client is always right, because ultimately it's for them, it's what they want.

That looks like a joke, really. Rising sun, wide open mouth and yet the trademarked lipstick those dolls have above and underneath it, and those goddamn shiny wide open eyes which for some reason have a line on the side from the previous version.
Did she really want it so overdone and "cute"?
I dunno, but it looks very japanese, that would not be considered a joke in japan.
it wold be considered stereotyping
trust me, japan is like that.
[editline]6th February 2012[/editline]
they're a stereotype of themselves.
[editline]6th February 2012[/editline]
they have anime characters reading the weather forecast.

It is sort of a joke, but yes, this is how she wants it. I am changing as per her specifications after each version and she's very very happy with it now. Just fiddling with the text positioning and stuff.
[editline]6th February 2012[/editline]
Ok, finished now. All parties very happy with it

That grunge actually looks a bit disappointing
What have you done with the real rusty
its just very muted and not a main part of the design thats all
My main problem with it is that I suspect the phone number may not be legitimate.
I cannot RSVP to this even though I keep trying.

throwing a japanese-party (or any other demographic for that matter) without stereotyping would really really stupid.

I never said anything about stereotyping.
I'm just reacting about how overdone it is. But if that is what the client wanted then that is what the client wanted. I just feel like he went from "good" to "What the fuck is this?!".
I need to get back into art! I duno where to restart :(
the client is his friends tho
