so I had a weird dream where the moon was struck by an asteroid or something at the end. Woke up and saw this outside my window just as the moon was setting, the sun rising soon after.

made this for no reason, i have no idea what it is, nor do i have a name or description for it, really, idk.
i'm not intending to appear ~~impartial~~ or lazy or like humorously cold and aloof or anything i just genuinely have no idea what it is or what purpose it serves, i just did it to kill some time but i think it looks sorta nice.
I'm sorry but it looks like you just slapped a few filters on and then a cyborg jizzed on it.

One of my exercises for Uni. It's a 3 stage sketch, I draw the image first in 10 minutes, then half an hour, then one hour.

Decided to take the leap into Photoshop. This is the second thing I've done in it.
Any good tutorials on how to actually sketch in Photoshop? I can't stand the pencil tool. It's so... not anti-aliased.
Is anything in there not a brush?
(You know what I mean)

Yeah. Only like two things though. I got a little Brush happy.

That is the whole point of the pencil tool?
For tutorials you can try DeviantArt.
As for learning new things and mastering I can suggest that you try making signatures/banners.
Might be considered a sin and screwing up totally fine images but I found out and learned most of photoshops tricks and uses by experimenting and doing crazy things while making them.
Aw hell yeah, just play around but have a goal doing it. I promised myself only to use desktop backgrounds I've made, and so I peeked my toes into the door of a matte artist. It's amazing and fun.
Furthermore I started doing alot of stuff myself. Blog headers and so on, avatars and creative 3d rendering on real life photos.

Amazing. It would take me over an hour just to get to the 30 minutes one.

Yeah, that's where I got my inspiration for it, was wanting to try something different.

But so this post isn't entirely pointless, here have a picture I made a couple of years ago.

So I buy CS5. Serial key is broken.
Return it and buy again.
Wrong version.
Seriously, what's up with Adobe and me? Something always goes wrong. Returning CS5 for the second time in less than a week...
Anybody know if it's possible to purchase older (CS4) versions of Adobe products?

No offense, but I would try to deviate a little more. At the moment it looks like you're just trying to emulate an AG piece rather than taking inspiration for your own work.
So just over a year ago we learned that our Degree program was being cancelled. We would be the last group of students to go through it. We were told that 'nothing would change' and that we would get the same opportunities as previous years.
Just got the news that several of my lecturers have been made redundant (fired). Three of them have been very important in my education and one was my supervisor/mentor for this semester (in my third year, during which we refine and begin to specialise). This comes on top of the fact that we've lost the 'traditional' third year upstairs studio space so that the new Performing Arts kids could have it and got dumped in downstairs room which is windowless.
Shit's fucked up.

similar thing happened to me, halfway through my first semester of college it was decided that the single digital media/design course I was in would be split up into several specialized courses. Problem was, they had no new teachers to do anything specific, so they just made existing teachers teach several smaller classes. It was ultimately divided into three major degree programs, but they didn't have a new influx of students to warrante three separate programs over the single one there was before.
Due to this, there has been lack of available teachers to assign classes to near every semester, and even then there have been several courses that are required to complete several semesters of in order to finish my degree but there's so few students signing up for them now that the herd is thinned across three programs, that the classes often don't meet requirements to run. Even better, several times I've had to sign up for classes where one of these potential fall-through classes conflicts schedule-wise with another class that I need to take, but the system for signing up for classes won't let me put both down so I can drop one if the other runs later. Rolled dice on getting into classes for a long while.
Any good tutorials for drawing heads and faces?
Any good tutorials for drawing heads and faces?
I'd be curious what others think would be good tutorials too. I absolutely can't stand the tutorial that's done everywhere by everyone
"draw a circle, now draw a line here here here and here then this is where the ear goes and that's where the eyes are and draw the rest of the fucking head accordingly", followed by a detailed shaded picture.
I've learned all the nothing I know fromt his:
