I wanted to zoom in to the pixel art but then the jpeg artifacts were ruining everything, I still want to see it up close though so you should post a png version.

That's just too awesome
I'd be curious what others think would be good tutorials too. I absolutely can't stand the tutorial that's done everywhere by everyone "draw a circle, now draw a line here here here and here then this is where the ear goes and that's where the eyes are and draw the rest of the fucking head accordingly", followed by a detailed shaded picture.
I think it's just about comprehending the head as an object in perspective, so it's easier to arrange it at any angle with a circle and lines. To start with, if you use the circle as the mass of the skull, from the back of the head, it will appear as that same circle no matter the angle at which the head is seen. A line down the centre of the face is useful only to give you the aspect/turn of the head, but it's a good start. From that you can work out the perspective of the ears as they sit on the base circle, and from there wrap a line around for the eyes/brows, and build the jaw from where it extends under the ears, and so on and so on. It's all structure structure structure. Once you can draw in proportion, then comes the rendering side, the details and shading and shit. Different parts of the process
Rendering this out now - really happy with the compositing this far. Full video in a bit
Messin' around with all the vst plugins I've forgotten about http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11891459/the%2070's%20called.mp3 Project took a freak turn when I added piano and I begrudgingly went with it, but I kinda like how it's turning out. Any thoughts?
[editline]10th March 2012[/editline] Not really happy with the exposure matching; the iris of the camera is constantly opening and closing a bit to adjust to the image and although I tried to match it in After Effects the 3D footage it didn't quite work out
60x60cm artwork. Also an album cover. Each mountain is 50/60 layers. Should I post it elsewhere, perhaps..?
Are they a patriotic japanese band?
Are they a patriotic japanese band?
Nope.
In case you remember that character concept I was drawing a while ago, I've been working hard on his model for my CG class:

[editline]10th March 2012[/editline] oh i see what you mean there're a bunch of different mountains made into two single ones ok
Nope.
You can see why I would think that, right
You can see why I would think that, right
Of course I do. It's more an impossible/mental scenery than some japanese culture tribute. [editline]10th March 2012[/editline]
Wait, did you draw the mountains? [editline]10th March 2012[/editline] oh i see what you mean there're a bunch of different mountains made into two single ones ok
I draw some parts but that's mainly a collage.
Of course I do. It's more an impossible/mental scenery than some japanese culture tribute.
Maybe change the color of the sun? The red does just scream Japanese flag Other than that it rocks. I love good album art.

[editline]10th March 2012[/editline] I draw some parts but that's mainly a collage.
The issue is that viewers will think it is about Japan when they see that big, round, red sun on an almost white backdrop. Unless you want this association it may be best to change it I really love it at the moment though. I normally hate 1:1 aspect ratios, but you've pulled it off
I've been wanting to post some of my work for a while now but I've been feeling like none of it has been good enough. I've been feeling rather depressed lately and haven't been doing a whole lot. This was the first piece that I've actually finished since feeling like shit and I'm quite proud of it. That look really damn nice One issue I have with it is the sudden drop in rendering standard on the shoulder-pad-frill-things, compared to the rest which all looks highly finished and great
I started on the Cristopher Walken that I said I was going to do. [t]http://i.imgur.com/2CTFG.jpg[/t]
Do you take requests?
Really awesome, reminds me of tycho's new album 'hours'. What genre are the band, just out of interest?
This is a friend of mine, he's on his own. His music is mostly electronica, sample based, synthwavish. Check him out: http://mabeat.bandcamp.com/ or http://soundcloud.com/mabeat54 Btw I also dig ISO50/Tycho's graphic work.
