Wow, nice.

First real sketch that I put a bit of effort into. Please critique any way that you see fit. I really want to improve at tablet drawing/sketching.
Without the mask, his head would be just a circle sitting on top of his neck. His hand is very strange as well. Draw naked people, without any concept to them, get some anatomy under your belt.
Also folds in clothing are never random, unless you're akira toriyama. They are a result of gravity, treat them as such.

Alright cool, thanks for the feedback. I know it's probably been posted many times, but I remember seeing a site that had reference drawings or 3D models for studying anatomy. A link to that would be appreciated, if anyone has one.

It looks nice, but maybe do something with the eyes because currently it looks like black abyssal pits that are slowly sucking away my soul.
testing out real grunge

printed, distressed, scanned, colour corrected
i even put some dust on it (who thought a dusty pc would come in handy)
thoughts?
Looks great Rusty. The only thing I'd change a little is the f in "from". The bottom section seems too linear and doesn't make it look like a cursive f. Other than that, it's the shit
the scratches under the UT in butt make it feel like a large, metal sign.
Best stop sign design ever
depending on what you plan on doing with it, I think it's a useful technique to know, just a bit time consuming for something that I don't think anyone would think about without you explicitly talking about the efforts you put in.
Still, it's those extra little details that add up fast and make something like a simple design look like something more realistic and believable.

but thats the point! i only told you guys because you've seen the before and after - if i post something that's like that the first time around, hopefully people will just go 'wow that is some realistic grunge' without knowing how i did it. thats the idea!

i need to buy a printer so i can do cool shit

posemaniacs.com for 3d models, but they aren't great.
These are both good for anatomy studies -

The latter is pretty badly flooded with images of one guy, so I'd recommend the former. It also has a whole load of animal refs, if you're so inclined. lovecastle just has big cats iirc.
so i bought a wacom bamboo thing

Needs a hell of a lot more contrast

Kinda new to character designing, totally out of scratch... 2nd try.
Would LOVE good tips, etc how to make this kind of stuff fast & awesome.
work on anatomy first.
Draw the body first before you put on the armor.
The shoulders and torso are off completely.
The head is crooked.
The grid on the armor lacks perspective.
WIP. CC it to hell, I'm a student.

Assignment was, we got a species described by somebody else and we have to draw it.
The body looks more like unfinished than amorphous, don't know your true intention.
Amorphous, yes. What makes it look unfinished?

You aren´t a student at Mediacollege by any chance, are you
You aren´t a student at Mediacollege by any chance, are you
Yes...
Well, the bottom edge seems straight but not quite straight.
The perspective of the shadow is different near the bottom
The chest is pitched dark.

also a school assignment, character described by someone else
Also Asgard, it looks like we're having class in the same hallway right now :p
Indeed, I can assume you are 1A not 1B? Or higher?
1A, yes
Wanna continue on Steam, so we don't need to spam this thread.
the world is small
Might not be much improvement, but I'm gonna leave it at this. I need to draw 5 others.

Oh man, imgur raped the quality.
The tail looks like it's just as massive as the body. Not sure if that is intended, but that type of fish kinda gives me the impression its tail should be translucent and veil-like. You should also work on using lights and darks to suggest the curve and form of the body rather than just have it be one big black blotch with eyes and tentacles.
