it doesn't disappear into the horizon, it just stops.
it doesn't disappear into the horizon, it just stops.
Maybe because the point where it would meet the horizon is outside of the frame
I don't understand
well yeah duh I did mean outside of the frame, but im not sure if it'll disappear or not.
well yeah duh I did mean outside of the frame, but im not sure if it'll disappear or not.
I don't see how it is relevant in that case
naw, I think you did it right, but it is relevant if your perspective is correct or not :p
My perspective is probably a little off - I'm still getting the hang of that business haha
This is what I mean

I don't remember putting dicks in when I made the poster version
[editline]18th March 2012[/editline]
But nah, I see what you mean!
Thanks =D
Well you must have dude
They were already there when I extended the canvas

hm that didnt happen when I traced the perspective in ps
Is the perspective otherwise alrightish?

I actually had the left vanishing point out of the frame
im not sure what to believe anymore
Maybe it's just the edge of the world?

Think more about your brush ergonomics :) use broad large strokes instead of small scribbly ones. Be confident with your strokes.
Looks pretty good otherwise :3
Edit:
Also, think about your values, zoom out to check stuff like that

The fence looks very weird but I didn't want to say anything

what an odd thing to say

By the way, is that like the paint.net UI or something?
It looks dreadful

the values need to be bumped up (let's make a dgg joke) and you need to view your reference more carefully - there are shadows that are not present in your rendition

It looks like you have just drawn half and flipped it.

Your ref doesn't work, so I have no idea how it's supposed to look, but making paintings is useless if we just remake photos anyways, artistic freedom should be used to a careful extent.
But I agree with Chesty. Values can definitely be pumped. I'd also recommend giving more focus to the eyes, it is the dominant part of the painting and where we want to look.

That's pretty much what I did. Wouldn't it be wasted effort to draw both sides separately?
Thanks for replies! :)
Also, what would be the best way to draw the tree/branch under the frog?
Since it has so much details, it would take a lot of time for me to draw it.
E:
Oh and do you keep brush's opacity setting OFF or pen pressure?
I've been using both, but pen pressure setting seems to work better for me.

E: Pen pressure, and if you want opacity tick on "Transfer".
Now, for the branch, the magic of painting is that you don't need to paint in details to make it look detailed or understandable. If everything is detailed it will only be distracting and unpleasant to look at. Like I've already said the point where we actually look and want to look is at the eyes, so the details need to be put around that area, leading our view to them. Most parts of the body only needs some rough detailing making it look detailed but still have a noticable less amount of details than the eyes so we want to look at them, and then with the background and branch we only need definitions, we need to see some lumps of shade and light to see that there is a form there, and that's really it.

As a quick example, look at this painting by Chyperx.
