that glass reflection is totally wrong
Yeah I know, it's a placeholder until I actually paint it from another perspective.

I'm unsure if I want to finish this.
Is it just me, or does it feel like GIMP is missing a lot of potentially helpful tools?
Or is there an upgraded/updated version that I don't have? I downloaded it like a week ago.
Also is there a way to turn up the sensitivity in GIMP? Response time is kind of... suckish.

Ignore the other improvements on the second pic, focus on the eye. Improvement?
Uh, that's actually the opposite of setting the eyes deeper into the head. You pushed them outwards

I say that you should finish it.
I'm liking the style.
The coloring is so realistic, I assume you grabbed them directly from the original in the game?
I feel like an idiot. SAI wasn't working because I was trying to run it with windows 7, I had to set it to compatible mode with XP and now it works fine.
Yay.
My Sai runs fine under 7

Today I drawd a hamster

Used a cartoon-hamster pic as reference and gave it massive glossy eyes! It's just a mess around but CC very welcome :D
The photo seems to have raped the contrast a little bit

overall form could be better but nothing too bad

Also I see a lot of good artists using brushes that are texturized. Where does everyone get these? Do they make them?

Time has come again that I need to actually study instead of practicing my own bad proportions. Anyone have a fresh approaches to heads/figures? I saw some of Kchen's sketches but I haven't found much on him. Sick of Loomis, and Bridgeman still seems too vague to me.
Trying to apply on my personal drawings what I've learned so far
did I seriously draw that first one
it looks retarded
how
ahahahaha
i wanted to say that too and rate it funny but i felt like it would be rude
but then you said it yourself so i no longer feel bad
Just some quick spritework, but the second animated gif of said spritework I ever made.
The first would be to the left.
Wouldn't you be able to see the other side of your hair when the face is fully to the left?
Quite so. I shall fix that, and the arm like Corndog suggested.
Never posted here so I hope I'm doing this right.
I was messing around with a voice morphing program, and after tweaking for ages, I sort of made it sound like the CP/Combine Soldier voices from Half Life 2. I'm quite happy with how they turned out, so I wanna know what you guys think :D

EDIT:
Another one with a different style. I don't know which is best, as they both sound intimidating.

I like em! What program do you use?
[editline]28th March 2012[/editline]
Refined the shit out of the composition of that pen/pencil drawing I posted yesterday, figuring out colours.
Foreground sunset highlight too dull

i have a feeling someday you'll be doing mouth dropping sci-fi city/landscape concepts. keep on it!
Thanks! I'm definately working on it =D
And now A QUESTION to all of the people who record their digital painting process;
What program do you use?
All of the programs I've tried are either far too resource hungry or give me an output image that's had the hue adjusted so that everything's got a mad, deeply saturated blue tint
I like em! What program do you use?
MorphVOX Pro. People say it's shit but I'm loving it so far.

You should never use pictures that are already rendered flat for reference. You'll just be looking at how the lines curve without any understanding.
The same reason you use flash, it is just preference.
i wasnt telling him what to do i was asking why

Oh no I didnt mean it like you were telling him what to do bro, I was just saying it is probably a preference issue.
Like I hate painter but love photoshop.
Then autumn uses that one program and you use flash.
flash supremacy
So, I decided to sketch my girlfriend. Partially to practice, partially because it seemed like a sweet thing to do. It looks close to her, my only complaints are my values, which are further messed with because I'm still messing with my school's scanner. I've neatened up a few things and differing contrasts since the scan, but still working on it.

Does anyone have any guides on using square brushes? Or possibly oval brushes, I'm getting tired of basic circle brushes.
The thing with square brushes though is that when you paint diagonally it looks like shit, and yeah you can change the spacing, but it's still a corner, is there a way to have the brush rotate depending on how you're holding the stylus?
Brushes in Sai rotate depending on the direction of the stroke
I used to find Illustrator more awkward to use until I was sort of forced to sit down with it and learn how to do everything
Now it's all I can stand to use for vectors and anything else feels like a downgrade
