My Laptop Runs Linux. :D
Well, most people in school all use OSX or Windows, both of which are quite similar. Linux is different compared to them and that's that.
boohoo the school gave me a laptop for only $40 and it isn't the one one i wanted.
cry some more!
ITT: BackflipHatchetAttack gets shouted at by the whole of facepunch.
OP could get a 16gb flash drive and install DSL/PuppyLinux on it, then Wine and play CS1.6/other games.
Yeah, I understand the fact that they're school laptops. What I don't understand is why they just didn't get Windows PC's, and why we can't do anything on them. Here comes more dumbs. Edit: Yeah, I am 13 by the way. I hate how you guys think all kids my age are freaking retards. I'm actually more smart than most people in my grade. All these things where this dumb teen does something equally dumb. Oh hey they did something stupid I guess all teens are stupid, right? Plus you guys aren't that much older than me if you think of it that way.
You may be 'smart' for your age. But this whole thread shows why people your age are generaly considered annoying, immature and stupid. Just because you may be good at IT or Science doesn't change that
The thing I find hilarious about this is the fact that you think they'll actually monitor you. I'm 99.9% sure that they're all lazy fucks and just check one or two things every couple of hours. Edit: However, I would be slightly angered at the fact that I couldn't install simple things Firefox. Hell, my counselor uses Firefox. If my school did hand out laptops and said we couldn't install anything, I'd just go to her and be like "Hey, I want to install Firefox on here plox." And then it'd happen.
Because then you would get cocky idiots like the OP thinking that they are the shit and then costing repair fees for the school.
No, the fact that you can't instal-wait a minute, that can't be because all you're really doing is dragging-and-dropping.
Because then you would get cocky idiots like the OP thinking that they are the shit and then costing repair fees for the school.
If we break the laptops we pay for them.
Well, most people in school all use OSX or Windows, both of which are quite similar. Linux is different compared to them and that's that.
There are some linux computers at my school, but they are the ones the IT "Ian's" (They're both called Ian) use.

Hell, I'd just put DSL on a flash drive like I previously stated and there, problem solved.
I'll just leave this here
Bad ideas for threads School Unfair parents Religion My x hurts/is sick/is dead Parody threads 4chan Mundane crap you did today It's my birthday today/in X days/tomorrow/etc...
If we break the laptops we pay for them.
That seems obvious.

Can you take it home? Because if you can, there is really nothing you can't do with some determination.
I'll just leave this here
Ah yes, the great "READ THE STICKY!".
Not really, it's a unix.
unix is the base for almost everything but windows computers. you can be pretty sure that it runs on your vacuum cleaner or even your toaster (possible but likely not) mac os linux and BSD's use unix core and then put's the rest on top. pretty interesting if you read into it, byt it takes a sheissload of time. so you're right, mac os is not linux unix is their only likeness, just supporting your argument without substance.
/me waits for the inevitable thread in PC Hardware/Software about a broken Mac Book, how to fix it and possibly crying about having to pay for it causing his parents to be poor. :v:

What's that about ? £25 ? If you got a fucking laptop for school work for that price then stop complaining.
-snip- Just fucking forget it, it doesn't matter.
Well lets see. You probably have this thing called a desktop and you're probably using it to write this thread. So how about you use this amazing desktop for everything you already use it for and the laptop for lets say, the school work you were meant to use it for.
What's that about ? £25 ? If you got a fucking laptop for school work for that price then stop complaining.
That's Cheaper than most games.
Well thanks for admitting I'm not as dumb as you thought I was. But I'll be honest, yeah I'm bitching about this.
When did this happen?
If you don't fucking like it don't pay the 40 fucking dollars you ignorant child.
I'd find a way to bypass the security measures, and then install Final Cut Pro, and use it as my new editing studio. There's always a way around security measures. Especially school security measures.
I still don't see anything bitch or even complaint worthy about this.
I still don't see anything bitch or even complaint worthy about this.
Yes, let's just derail the thread and talk about linux.
