[editline]24th March 2012[/editline]
but first i want to paint planes

started painting a plane. i love planes but they are so hard to paint
[editline]27th March 2012[/editline]
oh yeh traced the ref cos i'm just bored and doing nothing at uni today so stressing out trying to get perspective right on a masterfully engineered machine is not what i want to do today sos
oh wow i was just about to ask you if it was gonna be a water colour painting, but then i realized its not even on paper
ummhum is that a good thing hahah
probably it looks like its on paper or cloth or something rather than on ps

colour study thing(?) inspired by some work i saw on DA
Lightning colors are really nice
That looks fantastic
But what's that huge out-of-perspective phallus thing coming out of your plane

oh the picture is taken from the perspective of a refueling aircraft. that's the hose and the connection. it's not out of perspective
Drive was a great movie.

now i walk everywhere to the soundtrack

Fair enough
sadly this won't be done in time for my dad's birthday as i've gotta go to work now. ah well, i'll finish it tomorrow

you should paint his head in instead of whoever that biker is
you should paint his head in instead of whoever that biker is
That would go completely against the whole thought and idea of the gift.
i guess that'd get a laugh but it kinda removes the whole point of the painting
if i wanted to paint my dad on a bike i would have just used a photograph of him racing as reference instead of sheene
regardless, i can't do it today sadly
To bad, finish it even if it gets 1 day late, i'd be happy anyways.

looooooooooooooosing the will to live
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
wtf THAT'S how little i did. holy shit that was like 2 hours work. fuck this is why i now hate and have moved away from doing realism and over-rendering
It still looks like sex, keep it up!

i know its probably like that on the ref but the way his leg disappears into the wheel looks strange, you could maybe add like a knee guard to break up the blackness and give some sort of feeling that there is still a leg there
i dont think that's necessary, why even draw attention to that area

Especially the one you picked. The F-100's were mostly bare-metal (Aside from the ones in SEA). That should be interesting/fun/rage inducing to paint. Good luck though, you definitely seem to have the skills needed to make it work.
I look forward to seeing a finished one.

yeh you just reminded me there's a little bit of dark red in the shadows to paint that shows the knee guard

well a lot of it. mostly the fiddly bits of the bike chasis and all the graphics and stencils n stuff because fuck working that out
(i'm not interested in the subject matter nor do i understand it in detail)
