Add some of this to OP please.
I'm only 20 and I'm already at II. Didn't realize more people had this problem. Just accept your baldness and keep your hair short.
if i ever go bald, which may happen, ill shave my hair and grow a beard to balance the head equation, maybe go with a full max payne 3 look, drink some beer and grow some beer gut.
No history of balding in my family on my mother or father's side, but my a few of my friends are balding and have bald fathers. My friend's father started shaving his head when he started balding and it looks fine.
Going completely bald was one of the best decisions of my life. I started noticing I was balding at about 18, but instead of trying to cover it or buy some silly head foam to try and regrow my hair I just decided to shave it all off. When I first shaved it I just had a simple pair of electric trimmers that really didn't cut too close as they weren't designed to be used shave everything off. Eventually I picked up a Phillips Norelco off of Amazon for about $50 and have been using that for years with no problems yet, and I still haven't even needed to replace the head on it. Usually I just need to re-shave every other day, which doesn't take too long. I just read the news or watch something while doing it since all the hair is temporarily collected in the head so I don't make any mess. If you're still on the line about taking it all off then let me provide you with a video by Patrick Stewart where he talks about how embracing the bald made his career. Or this photo of me and my wife, who since starting chemotherapy has never felt ashamed about bearing her own baldness. Don't be ashamed about losing your hair. Embrace it.
I am 20 and at II, wearing a pony tail here.
31, losing hair. Very thin on top. When it gets an actual bald patch, I figure I'll just embrace it like Statham. I don't have the receding hair line though, and out front, it's all thick and great.

Unfortunately for others like me (I've shaved my head before for this fundraiser thing) the bald look isn't a great one. So it'd be a little bit tougher for me to embrace, especially when you're constantly showered with compliments about your hair.. that makes it even tougher to let go.
It's weird, I have no receding hairline but My hair is generally getting very thin all around the top. All male members of my family are bald. Figure I'll just go pretty short when it gets bad, but not completely shaven. The front is still thick so I just style that and people don't usually notice that it's pretty thin on top. I used to be SUPER sensitive about it, but I realize I still look good and attractive so it doesn't matter. sunburns on the scalp suck though
21 year old, hair line started receding/thinning at the front (Stage II in that diagram). OP, how much does your medication cost you? [editline]18th November 2013[/editline] More importantly, how long did it take for the effect to be noticeable?
I use propecia 1mg daily, $70 for a month's supply. With propecia alone in about 3 months I had all my existing hairs become thick again, and some regrowth (only a little bit) propecia is more a preventative drug. However, after I started minoxidil (regaine foam) it grew back dormant hairs as well and thickened any place I applied it. I went from NW 2 to 1 in just under 3 months of once daily application of it. Each month's supply for -twice daily- costs $40, so theoretically it should last you 2 months. Also, you can buy it in bulk 3-packs a little cheaper.
hey now I wouldn't downplay the side effects on finasteride. I thought people were exaggerating it too, but the risk IS real, and you could be potentially risking permanent ED (I think this is very, very rare though.) it appears that its actually alot more common then the studies let on, the erectile dysfunction problem (maybe not permanent but some form of it) at least. so you know need to figure out if your sex life is important to you.. if you're not getting any then hey I guess no problem. getting the sides don't have an incredibly high chance though, but a lot of people have also observed despite seeming fine at first when they came off the drug a few months/years later then they started noticing issues. anything like finasteride that seriously fucks up your hormonal balance and is messing with your endocrine system (I think that's what it does?) doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I don't want to scare anyone out of using it though, I'm still seriously considering getting on it myself as a male who's turning 20 soon and thinning at the temples. It really sucks and I want to combat this before it gets any worse and actually noticeable, but I can't deny that there are some really real risks to using finasteride that could have long term repercussions.
The side effects of finasteride are deeply exaggerated by people online, due to the fact that the forums are filled with people who experience some sort of complication and blame the drug they're on, I've seen some pretty outrageous claims against finasteride personally. But the side effects of ED and depression are real, which was explained to me by a few dermatologists, who said that people most at risk are those with low testosterone levels to begin with. In most cases the body balances hormonal levels automatically, although in some people this is not the case. I'd definitely suggest people take a blood test checking hormone levels before going on finasteride and waiting a few months after taking finasteride daily, then have another. I asked each dermatologist I saw to show me studies of the control group vs group taking finasteride (1mg), and there was literally no obvious difference in the groups tested ±2%. The permanent ED cases I read into were people who experienced side effects and continued taking the drug. I think you're blowing the side effects way out of proportion, however I do think people should get blood tested first and stop the drug after experiencing side effects. If this isn't for you though, you can always use minoxidil by itself, but MPB will continue to progress.
Going completely bald was one of the best decisions of my life. I've got a huge birth mark under my hair on the back of my head that is completely hidden by my hair though, if I shave it off it's going to be quite disgusting. Plus my hair looks great on me, I'd rather spend some money to keep it (:
I'm only in my mid teens, but for some reason, the prospect of going bald scares the living shit outta me. There are absolutely no signs, no history, and no indicators that suggest I'm gonna go bald at an early age. My father, brother, and even my grandfather, who's 85, have perfect, full heads of hair. Yet for some reason, I always obsess and go through all of these precautionary measures (most of which are probably useless) to prevent something that may or may not happen. Is this normal, or am I just being an obsessive little shit?

My Mom's side has a history of receeding hairlines, my dad's side is a lush forest of hair. So far I have the initial hairline of my mom's side (one that even the women have), but the thickness of my dad's side. Here's hoping for the best.
Stress causes hair loss, quit it.
Stress does not cause baldness, it merely accelerates the progression of hair loss to people who already are susceptible to male pattern baldness. It's a myth, hell, everyone would be bald if that were the case :P

losing hair in stress situations is a common feature in the animal kingdom though
Males on my mother's side have great hair into their 60s, and males on my father's side start thinning rapidly in their early 20s, if not earlier. Egh. Guess we'll see what happens.
losing hair in stress situations is a common feature in the animal kingdom though
I think that has to do with reserving life functions for when they're better needed. Like when human nails and hair stops growing during malnutrition to reserve strength, I imagine animal hair loss is kind of a primal biological response more than anything. While HUMAN hairloss is just a common downfall of happiness of adult males. Not very useful, otherwise.
When i went school i fought much whit these two people along my friend. And one of em has thin hair, i took him by the hair so much to throw him on the ground and shit (i was a kid i couldn't really fight well) Now when i see him in this time, obviously me ripping much of he's hair off did not help him with he hair problem. And we fought much so, yea i prop got enough hair out of him to make a wig. A small one at least. Also the fact he had a hat on all times prop did not help much.
I have 3 brothers who are all in their mid-late 20's and all of them have full heads of hair. I'm the last born son, which would imply I'm gayer than the others because of estrogen blah blah. I have long hair and it's pretty thick, I'm not seeing any propable signs except my hairline is a bit curved. My dad wasn't bald at the top but it was a bit thinner. Am I done for? This thread got me checking on my hair whole the time and worrying.
Lots of people's hairlines are curved from the start, even more people bald to like stage 2 then just stop, don't worry yet.
I should rent out my forehead for an additional source of income. Also, I assume it's not good when you scratch your head and hair just falls out. It's kind of scaring me.

Getting onto a normal shampoo schedule fixed that for me a few years ago.
Ever considered sarms?

You're canadian it won't cost you anything
It's only bad when you're going bald, when you are bald you basically accept it and don't even care, after a long time you will grow to like it. man I managed to make losing my hair actually even harder on myself. I noticed that I was showing signs of balding when I was like almost 18 (its been about 2 years since, I've only receded a little on the temples its a slow agonizing process it seems), and I never took care of my hair or gave a fuck. Then I decided to get a good haircut and actually do something with it and what do you know I learn that I have fucking awesome hair and constantly got compliments on my haircut etc So basically I managed to make myself even more insecure about losing it by getting a good haircut. kind of wish I never did that now I contemplate getting on finasteride all the time while I still can and keeping what I have which is still a really good amount. But I can't seem to manage to take the plunge
