That was funny.^ I didn't think that he would kick the girl, but when he did, laughter erupted from the audience and myself.
So the Coen brothers have made a good cowboy movie, and a good adaption of a McCarthy novel.
Goddamnit guys just make Blood Meridian already I'm dying over here
Saw it for the second time today. It's brilliant, though I have admittedly never seen the original or read the book. :v:
It does kinda fall for pretty much every Western cliche ever in the last half-hour or so, but I don't mind considering it's so damn well done.
I really liked this movie, the Coen Brother's make alot of great flims (case and point No Country for Old Men and The Big Libowski.) It seems like they really know the formula to making a good movie.
Ahem.
[sp]Midget kicking, that is all.[/sp]
I fucking hate the Coens. And I never thought that would happen.
How and why did they remake True Grit?
What's next? High Plains Drifter? Unforgiven? Surely not The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?
Hollywood and it's remakes...
It's not a remake. Just a film based on the same novel as the John Wayne 'True Grit.'
Fucking Iceland! I have no idea when this film will be released here :frown:
Hvaaað.. íslendingur á facepunch. ótrúlegt.
Going to get check this movie out with my dad sometime in the next couple days, he grew up to John Wayne movies.
And this looks pretty great.
Gonna see this today. Kinda wondering of how violent it is though because my parents wanted to take some of my younger cousins because they like these kind of movies.
Anyone know?

There's a corpse with its eye pecked out, a borderline mummified body too. A guy gets shot in the eye, and another dude gets his fingers cut off.

Those are the worst of it.
Alright. that's fine then. Just wanna make sure their parents don't freak or something if it turns out we took them to some bloody gorefest or something.

and in Coen Brothers fashion the violence is very abrupt.
Looking forward to seeing this today. I love westerns.
Who hit you with the uglystick?
Just came back from this. Fantastic movie with some great actors. The actress who played the girl surprised me.
Just came back from it too. Was really awesome.
Just got back. Was pretty damn good.
I'm gonna see this. Big fan of the Coens.
Oh man this movie was really really good. Been awhile since I've seen a good western lately.
Was random animal noises guy in the original?
I didn't really understand why they put him in the movie.
Pretty great movie.

He was in the book.
It was good, but the original is still better imo
I didn't like it.
Whole movie was anti-climatic and didn't bring any emotion into me or anything.

same reason i didn't like it.
the movie seemed lost too, it couldn't set a tone.
It felt too out of place trying to be everything, which just makes for bad story telling, which in the end makes a bad movie in my opinion.
I saw it two days ago. Not an awful film but, as others have said, not much in the way of character development and emotion through the flick.
I saw this in a ghetto movie theater on christmas day and that scene where the guy got his fingers chopped off, this big black lady jumped up and screamed " HOLY SHIT NIGGA!"
But this was a stellar movie, from beginning to the end it was like being in a time machine. Jeff bridges and Matt Damon did pretty good too, think I'm going to go watch Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid and play some Red Dead right now.
My dad went to college with the Coen brothers

everyone made fun of them for writing screenplays instead of partying
I thought it was all right
I thought this movie was fucking awesome. Jeff Bridges is the only one who can fill the Duke's shoes.
