I liked it quite a bit, and the action scene at the end was really cool in my opinion.
Oh God the medicine man. "I have already removed his teeth..." Me and my friends were al just sitting there with open mouths not knowing what to think.
I hated the ending.
The ending did feel rushed. I thought they could have added another 15 or 20 minutes to characterize the villains more.
I think the guy who killed her father was my favorite character.
saw the movie with friends, I think it was boring. Needed a bit more action.
Absolutely loved it. good writing and action and everything. i really liked the humorous lines too
I loved this movie.
Great bits of action, and the ending was decent. I hope they make some more western movies.
True Grit seemed really well, but I have to say that once this movie comes to Non-English speaking countries I strongly recommend at the very least some English subtitles.
I thought I was pretty good at understanding what people say - even if they're speaking through a thick accent or when they mumble. But here - And especially Cogburn, spoke in a thick accent AND mumbled. I found that I missed some good jokes too many times. ):
The only redeeming part of this film is when Matt Damon spanks that booty, the rest was very forgetful and bland.
sorry but you are wrong
I felt dissapointed by the ending if anything, still enjoyable and definately worth the watch

stop watching movies
True Grit 7/10, I am sorry, but I was bored with this movie. The dialogue and acting wasn't all that great, story was very weak, but the cinematography was great. i like the Coen brothers, but this was a disappointment.
Show me where you thought the dialogue was weak? This is a Coen Brother's movie . . . they are experts at dialogue. Did you have trouble with some of the big words that were spoken by 14 year olds a hundred and fifty ears ago?

No, are you 14? Do you like stuff that everyone else says is good? It was a good movie, but not as good as everyone said it was. My opinion! The dialogue wasn't intriguing at all. Ff anyone is a master of dialogue its Tarantino.

You didn't adequately justify your opinion. Saying "the dialogue wasn't intriguing" is an opinion, but because you don't give any reason or proof where you thought the dialogue was weak or not-intriguing, your opinion is not valid. Sad but true. Yes, you can state an opinion all you like, but for it to be taken seriously, you should validate it (I teach this stuff, BTW). I merely asked you to show me where you thought the dialogue was weak . . . you haven't done so.
I thought the dialogue was strong. It maintained the sharp wit the Coen Bros. are famous for (the banter between Matty and LaBoeuf the first time they meet:
LaBoeuf: I've just come from Yell County.
Mattie Ross: I wasn't aware we had rodeo clowns in Yell County.
LaBoeuf: A saucy line will not get you far with me.)
I also loved the antiquated dialects they chose to use in the film that was becoming of the period. For instance, I liked how most characters did not use contractions in their speech. Brilliant, and a far cry from films like The Wild Bunch, which use a more modern vernacular.
Notice how I give my opinion, and then I validate it with examples from the movie? Yeah, do that, or your opinion means squat.

I'm sorry, but I don't remember any specific lines from the movie, that must mean there wasn't anything memorable in the dialogue to me. You teach huh? Where at? I am currently a Cinematography major at Columbia College Chicago.

I teach argument at Sierra College in California. That's why I'm a stickler for evidence. If you can't remember lines from a movie or whatnot, you that's fine. Good luck with your Cinematography (I don't know who does Tarantino's Cinematography, but it's brilliant, as a Tarantino fan knows . . .)

Fuck yes, its finally coming here on Friday!
Will definitely go watch it.
what happened to spoiler tags? i wanna talk about the ending
I've never seen a Western before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. the west and cowboys and all that never interested me. But I liked this movie. It wasn't spectacular of particularly noteworthy, but it was good. The humor was good, the characters were distinct and interesting. Plot coulda been better, coulda been longer, coulda had alot more in it, but they didn't, and that's ok.
