There was this feature on Ebay a while back. I think they got rid of it though. It would automatically bid slightly higher than the highest bidder.
...shit. They got rid of it. Must be one of those "sniper" programs. I fucking hate those.
Bid high? Because you'll still be the highest bidder, and others trying to bid would give up.

I've gotten bargains that way- well the pictures dont help
I think he's misunderstanding how the bidding system works.
Bids are anonymous. It'll say you have to bid .50 cents above, and when you do it says you're outbid
Someone could have bid 100 above that .50, you'll have to beat their highest bid in order for it to register as having won.
Same thing happened to me the first time I used it, check their bidding FAQ, it has a good rundown.

On the British ebay it tells you straight away if the other bidder has his bid set higher
I usually don't buy stuff off ebay, I sell a lot of stuff, made 250-300 bucks in one week after selling some shit on ebay.
Next time just set your auto-bid deal to a higher value.
Maybe they should just remove the minute and hour timer so that way people can't tell when it ends? Just what day it is.
Have it end randomly on a day that the seller chooses.

Sorry for the language, but that is fucking stupid
There are auto bids dude
try craigslist
don't they make ebay sniping programs that bid on the last second for you?

i never bid on ebay, now that i think of it they probably have capchias or whatever they are called
Go to newegg to get a monitor.
I want to sell stuff on eBay, but there's the exact same things selling for cheaper because I want full price. So I'm just gonna sell all those old 90's YuGiOh cards at a collector's website, because I have some worth $60 apiece.
I personally don't see anything wrong with sniping because it is quite funny, but when it happens to yourself then it is quite annoying!! :argh:
Then you've contradicted yourself.

Is there a list anywhere of the valuable ones?
I have a suitcase full of those things.

I was using this site to get rarity and prices, though most of the time you can't get full price on them unless you sell to a collector or something. If you sell on Ebay a $50 card goes for $13. . . .

Op
You're unlucky :frog:
I was bidding on a 1st gen Zune 30gb for £40 (fucking great price imo), within the few seconds it went up to £60. I still won it, but paying the extra £20 wasn't too fun.
There's a reason why I always bid at the last seconds.
bid at the last second the very highest you would be willing to pay and say goodluck to yourself

Just bought a broken ipod touch for 35$ with 8 seconds. Beats paying 200$ for a new one. Now all i have to do is go to target and hopefully get a replacement.

Something tells me this plan is going to backfire on you.
On Ebay i have been trying to bid for a Dell screen (2407 or 2408wfp) as my current one is dead & I'm stuck using 2 17" Dell 1708fp's, Now i have been watching this item and bidding on it on & off. Now with 2 seconds to go i put a bid in for £175 (the auction was at 165) and it says i have bid successfully and i am the current highest bidder. then the page refreshes and i think i have won the item, only to get an email saying i didn't win, and the winning bidder gets it at £176.
This has happened to me 18 times now, this being my 18th, i have put a bid in as late as 0 seconds (and it has gone through just in time) but someone else STILL wins the item.
How do you win auctions on ebay, is there some kind of hack i need to force my bid in after everyone elses but just before the auction ends?
Thats because there are bots on ebay that outbid the highest bidders on the good stuff thats cheap.
It's illegal to run bots on ebay but people do it.
Another scenerio is the auction owner outbid you because they are not happy with the amount of money they will be getting from you if you had won.
I just use the buy it now option
I do have some DELL screens here are you looking for a laptop screen or what?

Bots are not illegal.
Shill bidding will get your accounts permanently disabled.
