I run from a USB internet connection which shares IPs with others who use the same thing in my area, i'll be screwed if this happens because if it's not me downloading songs it'll be someone else.
I wish that I could sign this for you guys, you have some pretty idiotic lordship around there :(
Who the bloody hell is this half-assed twit who wasn't even elected to his office to impose laws on us?
In my opinion all aspects of the ancient and retarded feudal system should be erased from the Britain's politics.

Don't act all high and mighty
Everyone does it
Even my computer teacher (who doesn't want to admit it)

I doubt that terrorists are like "Well, I don't bother encrypting my messages about blowing up the whole city, but I am so goddamn afraid of copyright infringement!"
Would it not be easier to identify dangerous information by the fact that it's encrypted? If everyone starts encrypting everything then it'll be like a sore thumb in a... box of sore thumbs?

You can, get the word out to other people on other forums, put it on your blog if you have one. If you're not in the UK you can still be a huge help to the cause just by spreading the word.

Even if we're not European can we join the Facebook group and still count?

In 99% of file-sharing cases (The 1% being the few occasions where someone has their computer searched in relation to another crime) the only evidence they actually have that you were doing this is an IP address. This could mean that a person sitting at home could spoof their IP address to match yours.
You can't just spoof your IP to whatever you like. To appear with a specific person's IP you'll have to route your traffic through their computer like a proxy.
Wow, England is turning into even more of a police/communist state
This is why you don't illegally torrent and know what the fuck you are doing with your router.
What kind of stuff are talking about here?
Child porn? Pirated games? Terroist plans?

If you want to download the latest version of your favourite Linux distro over Torrent, that'll get you screwed, for the looks of it.
It sure sucks to be in the UK right now =/

You only get screwed if you either download ILLEGAL, not p2p content, or if someone else uses your router.
Even if they send you a warning for a distro, you can easily appeal or sue them or something. Or in UK that's not possible?

Also on slashdot there was a thing saying even MI5 are against this because everyone will just start encrypting their traffic, making their terrorist/citizen snooping harder
If MI5's against it as well as all this happening there's no way it'll pass.
So then, does your favorite 'questionable-content-site' have a SSL certificate?
So then, does your favorite 'questionable-content-site' have a SSL certificate?
Probably Not
Meh, I'll sign it. If it gets passed, I'll encrypt anything I don't want the gov't to see
Even if I don't illegally download anything, I don't like the idea of somebody checking my traffic to see if I have and seeing everything I've been doing
My ISP already does this.

Yes you can, it's a commonly used form of Denial of Service attack. It's also very easy to route your traffic through someone elses network, especailly if it's not secure (And there are still a lot of unsecure home wireless networks in england)

The three-strikes thing can't be appealed.
And if you have a dynamic IP address, it's possible you can be falsely accused. There was a case in the US of a networked laser printer getting DMCA notices.
"This could mean that a person sitting at home could spoof their IP address to match yours"
Doesn't work. You send you IP address with every request so the data can get back to you, if you spoof it the reply would be sent to the real owner of the address.
Got a bunch of facebook friends to join the group and signed the petition.
I used to download songs, but I now buy off itunes because I have plenty of money :)

Unless the 'hacker' is running through your network anyway. But yeah, i get your point. I stand corrected.
Did you read the OP? And did you understand how with this system innocent people will find themselves having their internet connection taken away?
Yes, because the police will take away net connections without checking your pc first. That would be against basic human rights...you know the one of being innocent until proven guilty.
