god is a comfort that there is something after death
Absolutely nothing.
I don't get the point of these threads. Atheists just like to troll threads like this and anyone who believes in something. I would say what God means to me, but posting that on facepunch is just about as effective and slamming my face into a brick wall, pointless and painful

Let me ask 3 questions.
1. Can you see your hands?
2. Can you see your monitor?
3. Can you see your brain?
Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it's not there.
Horrible, horrible argument.
You can't see wind either, but we can see the effects. Same with your brain (you can see it if you cut your head open), or with anything else in the world.
nothing

Yes, I have the capability to see all 3 of those.
Nothing..
God - An idea of the existence of an all powerful almighty deity which causes all the suffering in the world, but also takes credit for all the good, despite "existing forever" has no evidence to credit it's own existence, and thus logically doesn't exist. The idea of this god, and his promised heaven and threatened hell, also causes added suffering in the world in the form of faith motivated actions but takes credit for some of the good such as donations to charities. Despite have a positive side, the negative outweighs the positive. When an atheist, or an antitheist decides to argue against the idea of a god, or a religion, it's believers feel as if they are out to remove the positive part of it, as they don't see themselves as responsible at in anyway for the negative actions of some of their followers, therefore feel as they are being persecuted or whatever. However, in the end this shouldn't come down to what's what's good or bad for society, although it's quite clear that religion is a mostly negative force. Ultimately, it should come down to what the logical conclusion to be reached is, and that is a position of agnostic atheism, since it's impossible to prove anything for certain, let alone disprove something, the agnosticism is part of it, and atheism because there is no evidence for the existence of a god, therefor the default position is disbelief.

That's what my parents said about Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny.

I can't see my brain, but I can perform many tests and make many observations that lead to the undeniable conclusion that it is there.
God cannot be tested, no matter what you say. Finding coincidence in a set of occurrences and assigning responsibility to god is not a test, that's just your perception of a coincidence.
Actually, in fact, I can see my brain with an X-ray, or a mirror during brain surgery.
God to me means division, insanity, delusion, abandonment of the mind, war, hatred, bigotry, inflated ego.
god? who's god?
God means nothing to me.
war.
lots of wars.
imaginary man in the sky
elevation of ones responsibilities and removal of accountability and false hope
god (purposely lower cased) to me is nothing
Religion is a franchise run by god. I guess I can relate churches to McDonald's. Everybody goes in wanting something (food/forgiveness) and come out feeling good or shitty. While the church/restraunt rolls in the dough.
And yes, churches do make money. Old people donate it every Sunday.
the adjective.
Lies.
idioticy!
Something to say after 'oh my'
no you guys god is real :drum:
idioticy!
that isn't a word perhaps you were looking for idiocy or idiotic
Something for people to believe in. Religion is fine, just the same as lack of religion. It's when either side gets too extreme when it becomes a problem, and that itself isn't a problem with religion or lack-of, it's a problem with the person or the sheep following them.
I don't believe in any religion myself, nor do I care, as long as people aren't shoving it in my face or imposing on my right NOT to believe then it's an issue, but again that's an issue with the idiots. God is an idea, god (to some) is the greatest 'scientist'/'creator', something to work for and live for.
Though I disagree with all of those.
Unlimited health. And sometimes the letters "TGM" (Somebody please get that reference).
