• Urban Exploration - Abandoned Swimming Pool Building
    70 replies, posted
Me and two of my friends were out driving randomly out of boredom and discovered an abandoned swimming pool, and we decided to enter it. Looking around for a while, we decided we'd come back the next day and bring my camera, and so we did. Now I realize this is not as epic as the exploration of huge abandoned beer brewing facilites, but the beauty of torn down places is still to be found within these pictures. I used to take swimming classes at this place when I was a wee little child, and so seeing it torn down like this sparks some sad nostalgic memories, and I just want to share this experience with you guys. It was a really neat place, and now it's even... neater. I won't write up any descriptions for the pictures as they probably speak for themselves. We are planning to explore an abandoned house where an old man lived. Apparently, he ran out of wood to burn (for heat), and he started ripping the house apart and burned that. He's now dead and we're heading there pretty soon. Expect pictures!
That's actually a really nice place. So nice it would be worth renovating, imo.
Did you keep the toilet brush?
Actually, I was the one to place it there...
And you didn't even find any dead bodies... Maybe you'll have more luck at the old man's home.
Abandoned houses and buildings are so creepy but really fun to explore.
what a dump must of been trashed over the years
Looking at buildings like these makes me wish I could speek with buildings.
I can't help but think that you should have left a note written in blood or something when you reach the old man's house. Something to scare the next visitor.
Apparently, he ran out of wood to burn (for heat), and he started ripping the house apart and burned that.
Holy jesus what :geno:
Wow, thanks for the Highlight!
That's actually a really nice place. So nice it would be worth renovating, imo.
The reason it was abandoned in the first place is because the guy who bought the grounds pretty much didn't want to invest in it.
I can only imagine the stink. With all that water in there, everything must have been rotting.
Actually, it wasn't that bad at all.
Mold heaven. Nice find, how do you go about finding these abandoned structures?
The scariest thing about these places is the potential to be raped by crazy crack addict hobos.
Are there many abandoned places at your city? In my city you come across an empty/abandoned plot only to come across it the next week and see there's a new building construction. two weeks ago they demolished the old US embassy, it was a masive mansion that was abandoned 20 years ago, it was ideal for a museum or whatever, but no! they had to demolish it and build a shitty Hilton Hotel tower. here's a picture (doesn't look abandoned but it was): http://repeatingislands.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/balboa.jpg?w=500&h=283
What's the adress? I need a new home, and it looks pretty hawt.
where in sweden is this?
Dalsland. A small town called Bengtsfors, about 2,5 hours from Gothenburg.
Do you ever feel tense or scared when exploring? I personally imagine these places having a rather spectral atmosphere.
Isn't this called urban spelunking as well? I'm getting kinda lost in those buzzwords.
Place most likely smells like heavy chlorine.
I think its sad how they will just leave a whole entire building and leave almost all there stuff there.
Free skis!
That's actually a really nice place. So nice it would be worth renovating, imo.
Looks like it would be too much work/money to actually renovate.
Reminds me of Silent Hill.
I know the whole thing about urban exploration is to never take anything, but those skis could sell for quite a lot if they are in a decent condition, outside of Scandinavia that is.
Set up a secret fortress in the pool building.
How do you guys find there places, where I live there's practically no abandoned buildings at all, cept for a few ones who are scheduled for speedy demolition.
I flinched whilst looking at the picture that you mentioned of the screamer.gif. :c Waiting for someone to make one now. :3:
I found out there's an abandoned mountain resort quite close to where I live, trying to convince some friends to go there with me just in case I fall into some hole or there's crack addicts there or some other shit :v: Taking pictures of course.
