Check out Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality
I second that.
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality starts with "Aunt Petunia married an Oxford professor instead of Vernon", therefore "Harry had a perfectly pleasant childhood, which he mainly spent reading books", and so Harry is both confident and smart before he even learns about Hogwarts (and also a massive fucking nerd... seriously, if you think Harry would have been better if he was into Star Wars and Warhammer, this is for you).
The early chapters are a bit weak, kind of repetitive with Harry being shocked at magic violating the laws of physics or wizards being retarded about something (he plots some currency arbitrage almost immediately upon learning wizards still use precious metals), and I must warn you that the author is a smarmy ass who frequently plagiarizes his philosophy writings and literally has to put a disclaimer in one chapter saying "Harry isn't using the widely accepted version of decision theory, but instead one being devised by, uh, me", but...
Holy crap it's actually a better story than Rowling's. The main trio is changed up to Harry-Hermione-Draco (because fuck you Ron, you suck), there's intricately nested plots of characters manipulating each other, the dialog mostly flows naturally, and it has absolutely the best-written villain I've ever read.
Oh, and it's also long as FUCK. Take the entire first four books, and that's about how much of a read you're in for.

I wouldn't. It's a terrible piece of fiction written by a batshit insane self-deluded nutjob.

I guess I like reading terrible literature then, didn't know the author was so much of a looner though, makes it all the more interesting IMO.

I was going to write up a nice response, saying that it is a piece that is particularly subject to individual taste, and that it's really not for everyone but those who do like it tend to really enjoy it, and defending the author as perfectly sane... an egotistical asshole, yes, undoubtedly, but not crazy in the slightest, and actually an extremely intelligent person...
and then I happened to notice your title. And I looked it up. And then I checked to make sure you were the one to buy your title. And now I completely understand why you seem to hate it so much, and think the only possible explanation is that the author is crazy.

JK Rolings mentioned you a wand to do anything significant, except for Children and Creatures, and for some fucking reason turning yourself into an animal.

Actually, my title has nothing to do with anything. If you're suggesting that the author is homosexual, then I was not aware of this, and it has no basis. My point about him being insane is rooted in much of the statements made by the author, both in and outside of his stories.

Really don't.
The guy who writes it is an elitist snob and the fic is just his projection of that. He's literally a walking, talking stereotype of a fedora-tipping atheist except he calls himself a rationalist.
